2016 Keith Noud Quality Handicap Field: Three for Gollan

One of Brisbane’s premier trainers Tony Gollan will saddle-up three chances in the Keith Noud Quality Handicap 2016 field at Eagle Farm Racecourse this weekend.

A key lead-up to some of the better races held over the Brisbane Summer Racing Carnival, this year’s $100,000 Listed Keith Noud Quality Handicap (1200m) is set to run as Eagle Farm Race 7 at 3:28pm (local) on Saturday.

A final field of 11 summer sprinters are engaged for the clash including three for Gollan.

Carrying the 59.5kg top weight on Saturday from the outside barrier 11 draw is the returning Gollan-trained Didntcostalot.

Tegan Harrison rides the veteran Danerich eight-year-old first-up, the galloper boasting a strong record when resuming (9-2-3-0).

He hasn’t raced since late April when second to Fell Swoop in the Group 2 Victory Stakes (1200m).

Fell Swoop franked that form over the spring in Melbourne with three top three runs including his second in the Group 1 Manikato Stakes (1200m) and third to Malaguerra in the Group 1 Darley Classic (1200m).

Didntcostalot chases his first win since last November’s Group 3 George Moore Stakes (1200m) at Doomben.

Gollan will also saddle-up Rocket To Glory (58kg) and Most Important (54kg) drawn in barriers six and three respectively.

Another eight-year-old warhorse for the stable, Rocket To Glory returned off a lengthy let-upon November 5 at Doomben in a 1100m handicap.

There he carried 60.5kg to a brave fifth behind Prompt Return, beaten under one and a half lengths.

Dropping in weight this weekend, up to 1200m and racing at the roomier Eagle Farm track he’s a livewire chance to post his first win since April of 2015.

Most Important gets in on the light weight, a drop down three kilos from the 57kg the four-year-old I Am Invincible gelding had on his back last time out when runner-up over the track / distance in a Class 6 on October 29.

Robbie Fradd continues associations with the in-form improver who has his sixth start at Eagle Farm chasing his first win at the track.

He did it tough last time out from barrier 12 of 13, but should get a better run from barrier three in the Keith Noud Quality Handicap.

The only last start winner in the mix this year is the Gillian Heinrich & Ben Rodgers-trained Gold Coast visitor Primal Flight.

The six-year-old son of Flying Spur won the race Most Important ran second in first-up and also drops in weight from 57kg to 54kg for the rematch.

James Orman is back in the saddle and Primal Flight is out to continue his good record of three wins from four starts at Eagle Farm to date.

Other notable hopes include the Bjorn Baker-trained Sydney raider Coolring having his first run at the track, the Tony Sears-trained Toowoomba galloper Hard Stride coming off a third to Prompt Return over 1000m at the track from October 22 and Desleigh Forster’s Rothesay four-year-old Too Good To Refuse.
