Fifteen of the Spring Carnival’s most exciting mares will line up for the Group 3 Ladbrokes Cockram Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield Racecourse on Saturday; a race that figures as a particularly lucrative prospect for punters.
Ocean Embers has returned to racing in slick form this time, and remains sole occupant of the top line of Cockram Stakes betting with Ladbrokes.com.au, at a quote of $4.80 for success.
Ocean Embers has posted three wins and a minor through only six career starts so far and has found particularly slick form in 2016.
Taking out the Sheen Group Plate (1100m) with complete ease first-up at Caulfield on July 2nd, Ocean Embers ran a close second to Viddora in the Listed Lightning Stakes (1050m) before returning to winning form in the MRC Foundation Handicap (1100m) last time out.
Ocean Embers will undoubtedly require luck in running after drawing the outside gate, but will carry only 55kgs and will be partnered by leading hoop Dwayne Dunn in the Cockram Stakes.
Don’t Doubt Mamma has continued to receive steady support in Ladbrokes Cockram Stakes betting markets and has firmed into outright $7 second-favouritism.
Finishing outside the first three only a handful of times through thirteen career starts, Don’t Doubt Mamma ended an impressive 2015 campaign third behind the likes of Mahuta in the Group 2 Sandown Guineas (1600m).
Resuming this year for a classy win in the Group 3 The Vanity (1400m), the Not A Single Doubt mare ran second in the Group 2 Kewney Stakes (1400m) before returning to winning form in the Listed Redelva Stakes (1100m) on April 23rd.
While failing to figure in the Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes (1200m) last time out on May 7th, Don’t Doubt Mamma has trialled well leading into the Cockram Stakes and is a proven first-up performer.
Telopea has posted a number of impressive results this time and currently figures as sole occupant of the third line of Cockram Stakes betting at $7.50 odds.
Claiming six race wins and a further three minors through only thirteen competitive appearances, Telopea won the Jayco BM78 (1300m) at Bendigo on June 2nd before placing second in the Beck Property Group BM84 (1400m) on June 15th.
Again finishing second in the Central Region Handicap (1400m) on June 25th, the Pivotal mare has not been seen at the races since taking out the Leilani Series Final (1400m) at Flemington on July 9th.
Thames Court arguably offers punters the best value for money in 2016 Ladbrokes Cockram Stakes betting markets at $11 odds for success, or $3.90 to finish in the first three.
