The opening Black-Type race in Adelaide on Robert Sangster Stakes Day this Saturday is the Queen Adelaide Stakes 2016 where Tris is dominant favourite in betting to take out the two-years-old clash.
Due to run as Morphettville Race 3 at 1:20pm (local), this season’s $100,000 Listed Seven News Queen Adelaide Stakes (1050m) has attracted a final field of 10 runners including two debutants.
Leading the latest Queen Adelaide Stakes odds at Ladbrokes.com.au paying $2.45 to make it three wins on the trot is the David Hayes & Tom Dabernig-trained Street Boss filly Tris.
She jumps from barrier four with Matthew Neilson aboard replacing Dylan Dunn who guided her to a smart 1.2 length win at the track on April 16 in the Group 3 Breeders Stakes (1200m).
Following in the markets are three other single figure hopes including Sylpheed ($5) from the Sydney stables of Gai Waterhouse.
The Real Saga filly won on debut over 1100m at Wyong in early April before her brave third at Rosehill over the same distance a fortnight ago.
Waterhouse knows how to place the right juvenile in the right race and that could turn out to be the case here even with Sylpheed and her hoop Kerrin McEvoy drawn wide in gate nine.
Occupying the third line of betting at $6 is then Moshki, the consistent Moshe filly prepared at Stawell by Terry & Karina O’Sullivan.
Apprentice Emily Finnegan retains her association with the youngster from a gun barrier three draw, Moshki after her second win from three starts at the Morphettville track.
She won here on March 5 taking out the Listed Cinderella Stakes (1050m) by a runaway five lengths as a $20 roughie before crossing fifth last time out in another Listed feature in Adelaide over the same distance.
If she can bounce back from that and return to her all-the-way form from the one before, she could be the danger.
The last chance under $10 is $8.50 shot Moqla with the outside barrier for the daughter of Exceed And Excel and her jockey Damian Lane to overcome.
The other Hayes & Dabernig-trained hope in the line-up, Moqla has winning Morphettville form from April 2 and is out to atone for her last start eighth in the Listed Dequetteville Stakes that Moshki ran fifth in.
At more generous odds but still with genuine claims for the win are the likes of Ciaron Maher’s Nadeem colt Victory Eight ($12) from Melbourne, recent Bendigo winner over Victory Eight Exilia Miss ($12) and the unraced Lloyd Kennewell-trained I Am Invincible filly Invisible Girl ($12) who gets the rails run from barrier one.
