Buffering Working Well Ahead of Magic Millions Sprint

Buffering returned to racing in typically slick form through the recent Spring Carnival and is reportedly ticking over well as he works towards a berth in the 2016 Magic Millions Sprint (1100m) on the Gold Coast on January 9th.

Undoubtedly the stable star for trainer Robert Heathcote since first appearing at the races competitively in 2010, Buffering has posted a commendable eighteen wins and seventeen minors through 50 starts, highlighted by six memorable triumphs at the highest level.

Returning this spring to successfully defend his crown in the Group 1 Moir Stakes (1000m) on October 2nd, Buffering continued to impress when trucking on for fifth in the Group 1 Manikato Stakes (1200m) and fourth in the Group 1 Darley Classic (1200m) before returning to winning form in the Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes (1200m) in Perth on November 21st.

Heathcote has been understandably thrilled with the condition and form displayed by the talented son of Mossman since his return in October, and told Racing Ahead he is continuing to experience a hassle-free lead up to his next appearance in the Magic Millions Sprint.

“The old boy is good, very good,” Heathcote said.

“He had a gallop on the course proper on Tuesday and I’ll give him an exhibition gallop at Doomben next Wednesday during the mid-week meeting just to get used to the track.

“I’ll send him around with a mate and we’re all on track for the race on the 9th of January.”

Buffering undoubtedly found career-best form to date through an incredible 2013 Spring Carnival campaign; running second in the Moir Stakes first-up before taking out each of the Manikato Stakes, VRC Sprint Classic (now Darley Classic) and Winterbottom Stakes in succession.

Posting his fourth Group 1 win in the 2014 edition of the Moir Stakes, Buffering placed seventh in the Manikato and fourth in the Darley Classic before a trip abroad was justified when the veteran ran on for a credible sixth in the Group 1 Hong Kong Sprint (1200m) at Sha Tin.
