Tower Of Lonhro is considered a rank outsider for success in Saturday’s 2015 Railway Stakes (1600m) at Perth’s Ascot Racecourse, however trainer Adam Durrant is thrilled with the seven-year-old and is confident he is in peak condition for the feature race.
Tower Of Lonhro began his racing career under the guidance of notable Victorian trainer Jason Warren during the 2011 Spring Carnival; contesting one preparation under the care of Robert Gulberti before arriving at Durrant’s Lark Hill stables at the conclusion of his 2014 campaign.
Having returned to racing this time for seventh in the Group 3 Asian Beau Stakes (1400m) on October 31st, the talented son of Lonhro completed an ideal lead-in to the 2015 Railway Stakes when third in the Group 3 RJ Peters Stakes (1500m) last time out on November 14th.
Allocated a very manageable 53kgs for the 2015 Railway Stakes, Durrant concedes the gelding faces a big task in success but is confident he is up to the class of his rivals on Saturday.
“Tower Of Lonhro I have tried to map out, as well as I could, to his best way of racing,” Durrant told Sky Racing HQ.
“He is actually unbeaten third-up, which he will be on Saturday and over the mile he has had six starts four wins and two placings.
“If you look at his run on Saturday he was very unlucky.
“The leader got away with a birthday in front, nothing tackled it and it sprinted hard and got that break on them, but he hit the line hard and finished third.
“He drops from 59 down to 53 and I certainly wouldn’t be discounting his claims – he has just continued to improve as he has got older this horse and he was quiet unlucky in his two runs prior to this preparation.
“This horse is more than capable on his day and I think that he is in the best nick he has been in.
“Hopefully we have timed his run to perfection.”
Included amongst a talented Railway Stakes field on Monday, Tower Of Lonhro’s chances of success are sure to be given a boost should he be allocated a favourable barrier on Wednesday.
Ladbrokes.com.au are currently offering the best Railway Stakes odds, for which Tower Of Lonhro can be taken at a quote of $41 for success.
