Sky Hunter is yet to contest a race in Australia, however punters continue to rally around the stayer just over 24 hours from jump in 2015 Melbourne Cup betting markets; seeing the talented Godolphin entrant into odds of $41 after opening at a particularly long quote.
Sky Hunter has posted an impressive six wins and two minors through only eleven competitive starts so far; booking his ticket to Australia and the 2015 Melbourne Cup off the back of several impressive performances including a close second in the Group 3 Arc Trial (2217m) on September 19th.
Sky Hunter represented exceptional value for money at his opening 2015 Melbourne Cup odds, and while already experiencing a notable drop in betting markets, remains at ‘overs’ at his current quote of $41; figuring as clear market mover as a result.
Trainer Saeed Bin Suroor is yet to saddle a Melbourne Cup winner despite entering a number of huge named stayers in Australia’s featured thoroughbred race, and is hopeful Sky Hunter ticks all the boxes for success in the 2015 edition of the race on Tuesday.
“We try for years and years. We’ve finished second three times in the past,” Bin Suroor told the media this week.
“I hope this time we can do it.”
Sky Hunter began his racing career under the guidance of leading French horseman Andre Fabre in 2012; securing an impress four wins and a minor through only five starts before transferring to the care of Bin Suroor and the Godolphin operation prior to his 2014 campaign.
Having run third in the Group 1 Prix Du Jockey Club (2100m) most notably through his maiden racing campaign, the Motivator gelding returned in 2014 for fourth in the Group 3 Gordon Richards Stakes (2012m) before a luckless run for sixth in the Listed Aston Park Stakes (2617m) three weeks later.
Capping his 2014 campaign with success in the Group 3 St Simon Stakes (2419m) in October, Sky Hunter returned this year for an impressive two length win in the Group 2 Dubai City Of Gold (2410m) in his only other competitive start prior to his second in the Arc Trial.
Ladbrokes.com.au is currently offering Sky Hunter at $41 Melbourne Cup odds, but the five-year-old continues to receive heavy support and appears as though he will continue to cut.
