Racing at Moonee Valley kicks off this afternoon at 12:40pm (AEST) with a field of juveniles facing off in the lucrative $250,000 Inglis Banner (1000m).

The first of the Group races runs as Race 3 at 1:50pm (AEST) with eight three-year-old fillies left in the mix for the $200,000 Group 2 Moonee Valley Fillies Classic (1600m) featuring some possible 2015 Crown Oaks contenders.

The major that everyone is waiting for though is of course the $3 million Group 1 W.S. Cox Plate (2040m), the Australasian weight-for-age championship taking place as Moonee Valley Race 9 at 5:40pm (AEST).

A full line-up of 14 hopes face off in the Cox Plate field this year including the Chris Waller-trained Winx who is the sole mare in the mix and new $5 favourite through Ladbrokes.com.au who are offering Best Tote or SP + 20% across the entire Valley card today!

Only Ladbrokes are offering Best Tote or SP + 20% on the full Cox Plate Day card at Moonee Valley today!

She is drawn the rails, not an ideal starting gate for the four-year-old daughter of Street Cry, but has continued to firm in Cox Plate betting since her opening price of $7.50 to win her Melbourne debut on the back of an Epsom Handicap victory over the mile in Sydney at the start of the month.

Other Group highlights on the Cox Plate Day card, the first five of which are part of Ladbrokes’ Extra 50% on your very first Fixed Odds winner in Races 1 – 5 promo, include the Race 7 (4:10pm) with the Derby and Oaks hopes running in the $200,000 Group 2 Moonee Valley Vase (2040m) and Race 8 (4:50pm) with Emirates Stakes-bound milers running in the $200,000 Group 2 Schweppes Crystal Mile (1600m).

To ensure you finish on top come the end of the day on the punt we’ve got our exclusive Cox Plate Day Best Bets for you to lock in at Ladbrokes.com.au!

In The Big One (Race 9) – 2015 Cox Plate

  • #8 Arod ($8)

With money coming in for Winx hard and fast, Waller’s mare a definite Each Way chance that can’t be ignored, one of the internationals Arod shapes up as ace value in the Cox Plate this season. Craig Williams shoots for his third Cox Plate trophy aboard the British raider who should get a gun run from barrier five, a gate that has produced more winners in the WFA classic over the past 30 years than any other alley. Williams has had a couple of good gallops on the horse who has outstanding form over the mile in top company back home from earlier in the year plus two wins from as many starts at the Cox Plate distance. Big danger at a nice price.

Arod is two from two over the Cox Plate distance and should be flying fresh with dual Cox Plate winning hoop Craig Williams aboard in the big one today

Better Than Bank Interest (Race 8) – 2015 Crystal Mile

  • #1 Lucky Hussler ($2.15)

A big field of 12 face off in the Crystal Mile this season, the majority of which are chasing an Emirates Stakes run on the last day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival at Flemington, but the favourite is hard to bet against. Darren Weir trains the rock-hard-fit Lucky Hussler, the Husson six-year-old coming off a good win in the Group 1 Toorak Handicap (1600m) over this distance at Caulfield on Guineas Day. Two weeks between runs is ideal, he’ll still be peaking at his fourth run this prep, drops in class, has winning form at the Valley, Boss stays on and is drawn to win in barrier three at WFA.

Best Upset To Win (Race 10) – 2015 G1X.com.au Stakes

#6 No Tricks ($12)

The card closer is a mares’ only mile clash and the original ‘roughie’, but now market mover, is No Tricks. She has been smashed by the punters in from $26 to $12 to win and it is easy to see why. This Savabeel four-year-old is drawn to get a gun run as she drops in class from a credible seventh to Cox Plate fancy The Cleaner in the Group 2 Dato’ Tan Chin Nam Stakes (1600m) at her last run. She’s been freshened-up since and has black-type winning form over 1800m, so the mile is doable. Has form behind now Cox Plate favourite Winx when sixth in the Group 1 Queensland Oaks during the winter and is a definite danger here.

Take advantage of our Moonee Valley 2015 Cox Plate Day tips above by heading to Ladbrokes.com.au where you’ll enjoy Best Tote or SP + 20% on every single race on the program!
