Najoom was confirmed amongst a classy final field of 11 three-year-olds on Wednesday morning and had her chances of success in the Hawkesbury Guineas boosted when allocated the ideal barrier 4 and confirmed to be partnered by in-form hoop Tim Clark.

Making the most of her good draw when jumping well and immediately taking up the pace, Najoom set a good race tempo alongside Eisenhower and Final Decision working away from the barriers and approaching the bend.

Remaining in a good rhythm as Zizumba swept around the pack particularly wide, the Northern Meteor filly maintained her prime position on the rails; something which paid dividends when making up plenty of ground rounding onto the final straight.

Producing an impressive kick, Najoom opened a huge gap by the time she hit the line three lengths ahead of equal favourite Federal; Queensland Derby hopeful Bachman boxing on for a credible third.

Undoubtedly posting a career-best victory in this afternoon’s Hawkesbury Guineas, Najoom has now won four of his six competitive starts and has incredibly finished no worse than second.

One of several talented three-year-olds currently saddled by Godolphin, Federal has also finished no worse than second over his four starts this time in and entered the 2015 Hawkesbury Guineas off the back of an impressive success in the Listed South Pacific Classic (1400m) on April 11th.

Returning for a disappointing seventh in the Egroup Security BM85 (1200m) on April 18th, Bachman stamped his claims as a legitimate Queensland Derby chance with his 2015 Hawkesbury Guineas third.
