Three-year-old filly Hijack Hussy is firm favourite to win the $1 million Magic Millions Guineas (1400m) at the Gold Coast on Saturday and her on fire form doesn’t seem to be slowing down following a solid track gallop on Thursday morning.

Hijack Hussy is $3.50 favourite in the Magic Millions Guineas betting market at Ladbrokes.com.au after a fast finishing second placing in the Group 3 Vo Rogue Plate (1300m) on December 27. This followed a minor placing in the Listed Mode Plate (1200m) at Doomben Racecourse on December 6 and a win in the Listed Lexus Hybrid Plate (1400m) back in November.

Trainer Tony Gollan believes the filly is back at the form that saw her win at Flemington Racecourse on Melbourne Cup Day and is confident she’s at her best to contest the Guineas.

“Her work on Tuesday showed me she is as good as I can get her,” he told Sky Racing.

“She got further back than we wanted last time after getting chopped out at the start.

“She handles dry tracks and is very good in the wet. She deserves to be favourite.”

Hijack Hussy is Gollan’s best chance at winning on Saturday but the trainer will saddle another three runners, which means he has a quarter of the field. Fixation ($41), Vienna Royale ($51), and Yeager ($34) round out his team.

Fixation was the top qualifier for the Magic Millions Guineas following a win in the Listed Breakfast Creek Stakes (1400m) during the Brisbane Winter Carnival but has since finished end of the field in his last three starts. They were all from wide starts however so an inside jump from barrier two could turn things around on Saturday.

Vienna Royale has seen his price drift out from $41 to $51 but Gollan believes the gelding is better than his price. He ran sixth in last year’s $2 million Magic Millions Classic (1200m) and is a last start winner at Doomben over 1200 metres.

“Nothing much has gone right for him during his career and he has always had class about him,” Gollan said.

“He had no luck in last year’s two-year old race and it might be his year this time.”
