Set to run as Race 4 at 2:21pm (AEST) there are nine three-year-old fillies set to face off in this year’s $100,000 Listed Beach House Bar & Grill Mode Plate (1200m).
The top rated runner in the summer sprint is the Liam Birchley-trained Missy Longstocking.
The Sequalo filly lines up for her 13th career start shooting fro win number nine.
She’s already scored five stakes wins to date including two Group 3 wins.
The first was in last year’s BJ McLachlan Stakes, immediately after which she ran a brave third in the $2 million Gold Coast Magic Millions 2YO Classic when blocked for a run.
More recently she posted her second Group 3 victory at Caulfield when winning the Thoroughbred Club Stakes in October by an easy three lengths over Anatina.
At her latest start Missy Longstocking was stepped up to Group 1 company for a shot at Flemington’s Coolmore Stud Stakes on Derby Day.
She could only manage to finish seven lengths away ninth to the Chris Waller-trained Zoustar however and will relish a drop back in class back home this weekend.
There are two last start winners in the mix with the form to beat meanwhile, the first of which is Jason McLachlan’s Startum filly Enquare.
Represented in the Group 3 George Moore Stakes on Saturday by his 2009 Golden Slipper winner Phelan Ready, the Sunshine Coast-based McLachlan has a better chance of a stakes win this weekend with Enquare who comes off a first-up win at the track over 1100m.
The other last start winner is then Matthew Dunn’s daughter of Jet Spur Splendora who is undefeated this time in.
Coming off three consecutive victories she’s out to make it four on the trot from barrier six with Glen Colless to ride and was last seen running at the Sunshine Coast over 1200m on November 17.
Also coming off nice last start runs are the likes of the Bjorn Baker-trained More Than Ready filly Killcareless in barrier two with Chris Munce to ride as she travels interstate for the first time after good Sydney form and Tony Gollan’s stakes performer Vienna Queen.
Gollan is also represented in the race by the resuming Global Dream.
