The 2013 Zipping Classic (2400m) has not drawn the strongest field in the history of the race but the Group 2 event, which will be held at Caulfield this afternoon, has turned into a very interesting betting race.

The favourite in 2013 Zipping Classic betting markets is veteran stayer Precedence who is available at odds of $3.50 to record his third straight victory at group level this weekend.
Precedence started his 2013 Spring Racing Carnival with a less than stellar effort in the Dalziel Racing Handicap (1400m) at Caulfield but returned to his best form when second in the Benalla Cup (2046m) before recording back-to-back wins in the Group 2 Drake International Cup (2500m) at Moonee Valley on Cox Plate Day and the Group 3 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2600m) at Flemington last Saturday.
Also backing up from the Queen Elizabeth Stakes is runner-up Sertorius who is on the second line of Zipping Classic betting markets at odds of $3.70 after going very close to recording his maiden win at Group level last weekend.
Sertorius has always shown plenty of ability but has finally stamped himself as a horse that can be competitive in black type racing; running well in the Group 3 Bobbie Lewis Quality (1200m) and Listed Cranbourne Cup (2025m) before winning the Listed Bendigo Cup (2400m) in impressive fashion.
There has also been plenty of support for Gai Waterhouse-trained mare Queenstown ($5) who was beaten on the line by Team Hawkes-trained Girl Gone Rockin’ in the Group 2 Matriarch Stakes (2000m) at Flemington last Saturday.
The Stratum mare will be making her debut at weight-for-age level and has been unlucky not to break through for a maiden win at Group level after finishing an unlucky second behind Sharnee Rose in the Group 3 Angst Stakes (1600m).
The best-backed runner in the past 24 hours in Zipping Classic betting markets has been Michael Kent-trained Epingle who is now into odds of $9.
The Pins mare started her spring preparation with a poor performance in the Group 2 Blazer Stakes (1410m) but produced an improved performance when fourth in the Group 3 Eliza Park International Stakes (1600m) before finishing an unlucky fourth in the Matriach Stakes last weekend.
Sam Kavanagh-trained Midsummer Sun ($9.50) and New Zealand Group 1 winner Ransomed ($10) have also found a sprinkling of support in Zipping Classic betting markets.
