Brambles has won the Group 1 Queensland Derby 2012 in a lead all the way victory at Eagle Farm today.
The three-year-old took the Derby into his own hands when he set the pace early for the $500,000 race.

Brambles winning the 2012 Queensland Derby at Eagle Farm
Despite a huge run from last week’s Queensland Oaks winning filly Quintessential, Brambles proved too good for the rest of the field and won the 2012 Queensland Derby by a convincing margin.
Jockey Brad Rawiller was aboard Brambles for his 2012 Queensland Derby winning ride.
“It’s a good job for a jockey, the fastest horse wins,” Rawiller said.
“We were able to get across pretty good without being pestered.
“At the 300 I thought ‘we need to see your guts buddy’ and he just kept giving.
“He’s a tough horse.
“I had trust in him and thankfully he had trust in me.
“It’s great to get one for Peter (Moody), he’s been terrific.”
Trainer Peter Moody couldn’t contain his excitement after the race was run.
“It was a good tough effort,” Moody said.
“Good judged ride from Brad and a terrific effort from the horse.
“It was a great moment.”
The trainer was never concerned that Brambles would be run down by any of the other Queensland Derby runners.
“I was confident; they were under pressure on the turn chasing him,” he said.
Moody is yet to decide upon a spring preparation agenda for Brambles.
“Let’s enjoy today and we’ll worry about the spring when it comes around,” Moody said.
