In form filly Satin Shoes may not run in tomorrow’s Group 1 2012 Galaxy (1100m) at Royal Randwick with trainer Clarry Connors choosing to leave the decision up to the owners.
A daughter of Flying Spur, the three-year-old has also been named in Sunday’s Gosford Guineas final field with the Robert Sangster Stakes against Black Caviar on Saturday week another option.
With a Group 1 win the goal for the former Silver Slipper winner, tomorrow’s Galaxy looked the best option until the horrible spell of weather that hit Sydney this week.
The track is currently rated as heavy and even with fine weather is unlikely to be anything better than a high slow rating tomorrow.
“I’ve got no idea at the moment where she will go,” Conners said.
“She’s really not a wet tracker and I don’t really want to go to South Australia and take the mare on.”
The talented filly is poised for a top result soon, having finished runner-up in her last two starts in the Centrebet Classic at Morphetville and the Challenge Stakes at Rosehill.
Connors said the $250,000 carrot up for grabs in the Gosford Guineas was tempting but the ultimate goal was a first ever victory at the elite level.
“The money is nice but we’re really trying to get a Group 1 next to her name,” Connors said.
Even if she does line up in the Galaxy tomorrow, she faces a tough task to achieve the Group 1 goal with a hot field of sprinters confirmed for the feature event.
Much-hyped Victorian gelding Bel Sprinter sits as the current bookmaker.com.au favourite ($5.50) just ahead of Gai Waterhouse gelding Nobby Snip ($6.00) who has been in sizzling form.
Also included in the 2012 Galaxy field are last year’s runner-up Thankgodyou’rehere, Sebring Stakes winner Zaratone, proven wet-tracker Ladys Angel and Oakleigh Plate runner-up Elite Falls.
