Black Caviar Is Back In 2011 Schweppes Stakes Nominations

There’s only one horse anyone wants to talk about this spring carnival so it’s no surprise there’s only one horse anyone wants to see in the 2011 Schweppes Stakes at Moonee Valley this Saturday.

Black Caviar is the star nomination for the 1200m feature which will be run at Group 2 level in the pursuit of $300,000 in prize money.

Once again she’s scared away a good deal of her competition with just eight others coming to the party at this stage.

The fact is none of them offer any more competition to what she’s already faced and even if they haven’t raced her directly they haven’t done enough to prove they can.

That’s not to say it’s not worth them coming though, the $54,000 for second place is still worth plenty more than what they’d earn by winning a handicap event and running second to Black Caviar is no disappointing result.

If you’re absolutely desperate to back something other than Black Caviar in the run then perhaps your best bet is to take a look at Scenic Blast.

The seven year old gelding won the 2009 Newmarket Handicap before going across to England and winning the kings Stand Stakes, one of the world’s most famous events.

From there he’s strode a path across Asia and the United States before returning to Australia where his first up run will be the Schweppes Stakes.

Were he to beta Black Caviar it would be a massive shock but he is a multiple Group 1 champion and has beaten some of the world’s best overseas.

If it is a battle for second spot though as we’re all predicting he is far from a clear cut pick.

Others with claims include Doubtful Jack, Karuta Queen and maybe even Here de Angels if he can find the form that earned him the 2010 Rubiton Stakes title.

There’s no prizes for guessing which way the betting will be going in the 2011 Schweppes Stakes with Black Caviar probably starting at her shortest price yet.

In her last few runs a lot has been made about the difference between the payouts on the TAB so avoid the pain and guarantee yourself the best result.

Luxbet will pay out the best tote on Black caviar so you never need to be left wondering what if again.
