Wall Street Tipped to Upset Favourites in 2011 George Ryder Stakes – Rosehill Race 6 Tips

A star-studded field of 15 gallopers including nine individual Group 1 winners are set to face off in the $400,000 Group 1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill’s Golden Slipper Day on Saturday and the Races.com.au team are tipping an upset with Kiwi galloper Wall Street.

The 2011 George Ryder Stakes is programmed to run as Rosehill Race 6 at 3:10pm (AEDST) this Saturday.

Aloha

Aloha is the favourite for the George Ryder Stakes after her success in the Coolmore Classic

Early favourite in the George Ryder Stakes odds is Mick Price’s last start Coolmore Classic winning mare Aloha.

Drawn in barrier three and due to be ridden by champion hoop Glen Boss once again, the daughter of Encosta De Lago is seeking her sixth successive victory.

Taking nothing away from the fact Aloha is coming off a win at this track and distance in a Group 1, the Races.com.au team believe there is more value to be found in Rosehill Race 6 on Saturday.

Having studied the George Ryder Stakes field and form we have #4 Wall Street rated special to win and the six-year-old is at a very nice $13 price for the upset.

Golden Slipper Day Race 6 Tips – 2011 George Ryder Stakes Betting

  • Upset Winner: #4 Wall Street

Drawn well midfield for Saturday in barrier seven, the Jeff Lynds-trained Wall Street comes right into contention for the George Ryder with Rosehill continuing to cop rainfall.

The New Zealand based gelding was the Group 1 Emirates Stakes winner over the Flemington mile in the spring and has enjoyed two Group 1 second place finishes back home this season.

The Emirates was Wall Street’s ninth win over 1600m and stepping back to 1500m here makes him a live chance.

Wall Street also boasts the highest Win Rate of the field with 52% and is unbeaten on Slow ground and yet to finish out of the money on a Heavy track.

  • Runner-Up: #14 Ilovethiscity

One of the single-figure contenders, Grahame Begg’s Magic Albert colt Ilovethiscity comes into Saturday’s showdown having scored his first Group 1 win in the Randwick Guineas (1600m) at Warwick Farm on March 12.

Prior to that they won the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes at Rosehill and have beaten many of his George Ryder Stakes rivals before.

Is out wide in barrier 11 but has time and ability to overcome, settle back with cover and come home hard.

  • Beaten Favourite to Run Third: #13 Aloha

Aloha’s form cannot be ignored completely, she is five straight and they have all been effortless. Still, this is a tough field and on a soft track she may not get the best run so close to the rail.

  • Best Tip for Exotics: #2 Rangirangdoo

Last year’s Doncaster Mile winner resumed after an injury-enforced 11 month spell in the Group 2 Canterbury Stakes (1300m) finishing six lengths away fourth to More Joyous on March 19.

Ran out of steam there but was expected, fitness should have improved and will be closer second time in.
