Before Saturday’s 2011 Golden Slipper takes place at Rosehill, this Wednesday March 30 there are five great TAB meetings including three metro racedays happening around the country.

Today’s racing will take place at country and city tracks in South Australia, New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and Western Australia.

The best Wednesday line-ups are the feature metropolitan meetings running at Sydney’s Randwick Racecourse and at Sandown in Melbourne.

Today’s Horse Racing

• Balaklava (SA) – Race 1 jumps at 1:08pm (AEDST)

The opening Wednesday race meeting is due to take place at South Australia’s Balaklava Racecourse with the first of eight events, the $10,000 Malaysia Airlines / SABOIS 2YO Maiden Plate (1200m) kicking things off at 1:08pm (AEDST).

Some great handicap features to enjoy later on in the afternoon here including Balaklava Race 7 – the $10,000 Jacobs Creek Rating 0 – 78 Handicap (1300m) at 4:48pm (AEDST) where we are tipping #10 Silver Raven to score their second on the trot after drawing ideally in barrier four.

• Randwick (NSW) – Race 1 jumps at 1:15pm (AEDST)

Randwick’s Kensington Racecourse will host the first of today’s metro meets, the seven-race programme getting underway at 1:15pm (AEDST) with the $27,000 Free Entry Today Handicap (2500m).

Every race at Randwick today is a handicap feature not to miss including Race 4 the $27,000 Watsons Bay Handicap (1800m) at 3:00pm (AEDST) where #2, the David Payne-trained Diamond Jim is our pick of the field.

• Sandown (VIC) – Race 1 jumps at 1:35pm (AEDST)

Metro racing continues at Melbourne’s Betfair Park Sandown Lakeside Racecourse this afternoon where race one of seven, the $30,000 Routley’s Handiap (1200m) for two-year-old fillies, is set to kick things off at 1:35pm (AEDST).

One of the highlights will be Sandown Race 5 – the $30,000 Betfair Handicap (2100m) at 4:00pm (AEDST) where there are a number of live chances to upset favourite #10 Tanby, our pick being #8 Moulin Bleu with the inside running from gate 1.

• Doomben (QLD) – Race 1 jumps at 1:58pm (AEDST)

Weather permitting, Brisbane’s Doomben Racecourse will be home to an exciting seven-race programme today starting at 1:58pm (AEDST) with the $13,000 Sky Racing Three-Years-Old Maiden Plate (1030m).

Lots of great Class events on the card here including Doomben Race 6 – the $13,000 Sky Racing Class 3 Plate (1200m) at 5:08pm (AEDST) where #7 Hangover Henry for trainer David Murphy looks hard to beat.

• Bunbury (WA) – Race 1 jumps at 3:33pm (AEDST)

Bringing the Wednesday racing action to a close this afternoon is a bumper nine-race card at Bunbury in WA where Race 1 – the $10,000 Careers In Racing Maiden (1100m) is due to jump at 3:33pm (AEDST).

Headlining the programme is Race 8 – the $12,500 Smokefree WA Handicap (1410m) at 7:58pm (AEDST) where #13 Stanton Warrior is the pick as the 53.5kg lightweight, drawn well in gate three and coming off a last-start win.
