There will be plenty of conversation at the Peter Snowden stable this afternoon with a tough decision to make after Altar won the Magic Night Stakes at Rosehill Gardens.
While a difficult choice, it’s one many trainers will be envious of with Snowden having an embarrassment of riches ahead of the 2011 Golden Slipper.
Altar secured her spot in the race after bounding to victory in the Magic Night Stakes jumping clear of the field half way down the strait before holding on for a clear victory.
After the race Snowden said she was no certainty to run in the 2011 Golden Slipper though and in fact he was leaning towards not running the filly.
Connections could see things a different way though so don’t tear up your tickets just yet if you grabbed Altar at huge fixed price Golden Slipper odds at Luxbet before this race.
The reason Snowden has the luxury to not run her is of course due to the current betting favourite for the Golden Slipper Sepoy also working out of his stables.
The Magic Night Stakes was always going to be Snowden’s race with three of the top runners worked by the in-form trainer.
Their results weren’t bad either with Aerobatics putting in a mountain of work from a wide barrier to claim third spot while the other starter Disputes ran home along the rails for fourth.
That would give Aerobatics enough prize money to run in the Golden Slipper as well but she was one Snowden adamantly ruled out saying she is probably the best filly he trains but she’s been out of luck this campaign so he’s going to look somewhere different.
Altar is still not without hope though and the lure of another chance at the $3.5 million may well be more than enough to sway the owners into having a run.
