Brazilian Pulse Wins 2011 Keith F Nolan Classic – Rosehill Guineas Day Race 3 Results

Brazilian Pulse

On Rosehill Guineas Day Brazilian Pulse is the 2011 Keith F Nolan Classic winner

Michael Moroney’s brilliant filly Brazilian Pulse outclassed her rivals in Rosehill Guineas Day Race 3 this afternoon, winning the $150,000 Group 3 Keith F Nolan Classic (1800m) on way to a start in the 2011 AJC Australian Oaks next month.

Winning of the Group 1 Crown Oaks during the spring, Brazilian Pulse fought back today to add another Group victory to her impressive resume.

First-up this season she ran second to Do Ra Mi in the Kewney Stakes over 1400m at Flemington, but second-up today she went straight to the 1800m without issue.

Starting as the long odds-on favourite in the Rosehill Race 3 betting markets, Brazilian Pulse came away from barrier five with Craig Williams in the mount to settle mid-field.

Anthony Cummings’ Chula Vista, who eventually faded to finish last, rolled forward from a wide barrier 10 draw to sit at the front early before $81 roughie Miracle Magic took the lead.

After settling it was Lady Lonhro who snared the front run at about the 1000m mark.

On the turn for home Williams begin to push Brazilian Pulse to begin her run.

In the opening stages the favourite had a lovely run but when peeling to the outside on the turn for home was shoved wide.

Quickly recovering Brazilian Pulse moved up along with a number of other runners in a tight run up the straight.

In the end Brazilian Pulse ($1.70) was just too classy as she hit the front and finished off strongly to beat home Tim Martin’s Fibrillation ($16) by half a length while the John O’Shea-trained Honor Net ($17) finished off the winning Trifecta a further length away third.

Brazilian Pulse has now won five of her eight career starts, today’s prize money boosting her total career earnings to over the $1 million mark.

Her main autumn aim is the $550,000 Group 1 AJC Australian Oaks (2400m) at Randwick on April 16.

In the early AJC Australian Oaks odds released last week, Brazilian Pulse opened as the $6.50 favourite at Luxbet her price now set to firm.

Runner-up to Brazilian Pulse today in the Keith F Nolan Classic result, Fibrillation was game in defeat and also produced an excellent AJC Oaks lead-up performance.
