Late Mail Rosehill Race 8 Tip – 2011 Sky High Stakes Betting

Luen Yat Forever

Luen Yat Forever is the Late Mail tip to win the 2011 Sky High Stakes

After the action of the 2011 Coolmore Classic at Rosehill today, punters will still have two quality black-type events to enjoy an afternoon punt on including Race 8 the $100,000 Listed Sky High Stakes (1900m).

Due to jump at 4:50pm (AEDST), the 2011 Sky High Stakes field features nine gallopers after #10 Base was an early scratching from the race yesterday.

Steady favourite in the Sky High Stakes odds at Luxbet is #9 Older Than Time, Gai Waterhouse’s Don Edurado mare out for her fourth win on the trot.

Sydney’s leading lady of racing, Waterhouse earlier enjoyed success at Rosehill when her star mare More Joyous claimed a devastating win in the Group 2 Canterbury Stakes (1400m) on way to the 2011 Doncaster Mile.

Although punters have firmly backed Older Than Time in from $4.40 to $4 since betting opened on Rosehill Race 8 they are untested on a Slow track and the late mail Sky High Stakes tip is for #1 Luen Yat Forever.

The Peter Moody-trained Honours List gelding Luen Yat Forever has been swiftly backed in from $7.50 to $5 at Luxbet with the Rosehill track downgraded from a Dead 5 to a Slow 7 earlier.

Former Macau Horse of the Year, Luen Yat Forever has had four starts on Slow ground finishing second in three of those runs.

This is good wet track form for and could be enough to help in score his maiden win on Aussie turf.

Luen Yat Forever finished in the money in 21 of his 23 starts in Macau but so far is zero from six here, however many of his Australian runs have been in Group 1 company so with rain around and the step back to a Listed race make Luen Yat Forever the top pick.

Other horses to consider for your 2011 Sky High Stakes betting on a Slow Track are:

  • #3 Beijing Boy ($21 into $17 Luxbet) – Chris Waller’s six-year-old has one of the best Slow track records with two wins and a third from three starts, 1900m distance is also ideal so include in exotics

Slow: 3-2-0-1

  • #5 Count Encosta ($15 into $13 Luxbet) – Encosta De Lago four-year-old was seventh to Lamasery last start over 1800m here but drops back from 57kg that run to just 53kg today so is in with a shot

Slow: 2-1-0-0

  • #4 Miss Keepsake ($7 into $6 Luxbet) – Joseph Pride’s previous Queensland Oaks winner one of the top fancies in the odds based on her last start second to Warpath in the Listed Aspiration Quality (1600m) at Warwick Farm, has form as a stayer and can win in the wet

Slow: 3-1-0-0
