Super Saturday Race 1 Results – Triple Asset Wins Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes 2011

Triple Asset

Triple Asset (number 4) has won the 2011 Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes at Flemington on Super Saturday

Flemington’s Super Saturday of Racing has kicked off with Race 1 – the $150,000 Group 3 Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes (1200m) where Tassie filly Triple Asset stormed home to claim the narrowest of wins ahead of a classy field of fellow two-year-old fillies.

The John Keys-trained Triple Asset was fresh off a win in the Tasmanian Magic Millions 2YO Classic at Launceston, but still went out in Flemington Race 1 today at juicy double figure odds through Luxbet.

With Michael Rodd in the mount Triple Asset jumped away quickly from barrier six.

Peter Moody’s Blue Diamond Stakes fourth-placegetter Metonymy crossed over to the rails from barrier five to hit the lead early.

After settling it was Metonymy who set the pace with Triple Asset in second and the Peter Snowden-trained Altar finding a nice position in third.

With 400m to go Triple Asset moved up to tackle Metonymy and the two smart fillies battled it out stride for stride until the end.

On the line Triple Asset ($12) dived forward from the middle and won by a nose over a gallant Metonymy ($4.60) in a thrilling photo finish.

With less than half a length separating the top four finishers, it was Altar ($13) that snared third after having had a beautiful uninterrupted run down the straight.

Finishing in fourth was the Peter Moody-trained debutant Plucky Belle.

Plucky Belle started the favourite in Flemington Race 1 but got caught up throughout from her wide barrier 11 start and did well to come in fourth on debut.

Triple Asset has now won three of her six career starts, still yet to finish out of the money.

Ensuring she pulls up well, connections including trainer John Keys will keep the daughter of Nadeem in Melbourne for the remainder of the autumn carnival.

Next up on the Flemington Super Saturday race-card is the $125,000 Listed MSS Security Stakes (1100m) at 12:05pm (AEDST) where the Races.com.au team are tipping #6 Umgeton to win at their juicy $6 price through Luxbet.

Luxbet will have the continued best Flemington horse racing odds today so if you haven’t already, open you online betting account with Luxbet now to get in on the action!
