Betting for the 2011 Silver Slipper is well under way and its throwing up a very interesting situation.
Despite 13 horses coming from 13 different trainers punters have decided this one is a race in two.
Unbeaten filly Satin Shoes was always going to perform strongly in the markets and at last check was $2.20 fixed price at Luxbet.
She’s narrowly shading close rival Straight Gold which is sitting at $2.70.
While these odds aren’t surprising, what is surprising is the huge gap back to the next backed runner, Elite Falls at $13.
That’s not bad for a horse which ran second to Satin Shoes just last start.
We’ve earlier talked about the likes of Diamond To Pegasus and Bossdon City who we agreed certainly have a very tough run.
However at $26 a piece we never thought they’d blow out anywhere near that much.
Huegill and Crystal Rock are at the same monster odds with only Aerobatics the other horse shorter, still at $14, not bad for an unbeaten runner!
Having said this the punters aren’t often too far away from the mark and this time while we think the race will be a lot closer than many think, the eventual winner will be the favourite.
Satin Shoes should stretch her unbeaten run to three with the small weight and good barrier draw.
Here’s where that stops though and for the minors we’ve put together what could be a very handsome box trifecta.
Straight Gold has to be included on form but we’re refusing to completely discount Diamond To Pegasus after the his last start gutsy win. Also included is Aerobatics with one start for one win and how about this for some value, one of the rank outsiders at a huge $51 Al’s Magic Miss.
Just the one start for a win against a small field but with the prime barrier and nothing to lose this horse could cause the mother of all upsets.
You don’t need to be a maths genius to work out the returns on that coming home could be astronomical. While differences in the favourites are often only be a few cents, when you include roughies the difference between bookies could be a few dollars. That’s means you could potentially lose thousands by betting with the wrong bookmaker.
Thankfully Luxbet guarantees the best odds all the time so you know you’re getting maximum returns on your money.
