The $200,000 Group 3 CS Hayes Stakes (1400m) is due to jump at 3:30pm (AEDST) this afternoon as one of three Group race features on the Lightning Stakes Day race programme.
Seeking their third win on the trot in the CS Hayes today, Zenno Rob Roy gelding Enjin Number Nine has firmed in from $3.60 to $3.50 at Luxbet to do just that.
Drawn well in barrier five, Enjin Number Nine is coming off a brilliant 2 ½ length victory over the likes of fellow CS Hayes Stakes rival Bullbars and dual Group 1 winner Star Witness in the Listed Manfred Stakes (1300m) at Sandown on February 9.
The punters have been right on song with the Flemington race favourites and results so far today, so the money and the history suggests Enjin Number Nine is the horse to beat.
However the Races.com.au team are tipping an upset CS Hayes Stakes result this afternoon and have our money on #1 Anacheeva.
Last year’s Australian Guineas winner, Anacheeva is now the $5.50 second favourite in the CS Hayes Stakes odds after shortening in from $6 earlier this morning.
Ignore their first-up seventh in the Zeditave at Caulfield as the tempo wasn’t in their favour there and they will thrive over the extra distance today.
The other big CS Hayes Stakes betting market mover is #10 Spirited Eagle.
Well-bred Not A Single Doubt gelding Spirited Eagle is an Adelaide galloper with plenty of claims for an upset.
The punters think so too and have backed Spirited Eagle in from $8 to $6 at Luxbet, equal third favourite in the market with the impressive Group 2 D’Urban Stakes winner Dusty Star.
