The Mittys Vanity Final Field & Preview – Lightning Stakes Day 2011

A bumper day of racing is scheduled to take place at Flemington this Saturday for Lightning Stakes Day and as part of the action a field of three-year-old fillies will contest the $200,000 Group 3 The Mittys Vanity (1400m).

The 2011 The Mittys Vanity has attracted a 10-horse final field lead by the Danny O’Brien-trained Shamrocker.

O’Reilly filly Shamrocker has suffered a blow with a wide barrier eight draw for Saturday and is due to be ridden by Steven Arnold.

At her last start Shamrocker ran a game second behind Brazilian Pulse in the Group 1 Crown Oaks (2500m) at Flemington on November 4, but she also has a commanding record over the 1400m having won the Group 2 VRC Sire’s Produce Stakes (1400m) here last year at just her third start.

Equal 56.5kg topweight with Shamrocker in this year’s Mittys Vanity is the David Hayes-trained Precious Lorraine.

Well-bred Encosta De Lago filly Precious Lorraine has drawn better with gate three, but will have to show improvement after running eighth in the Crown Oaks last start and not having won since their victory in the Listed Carmichael Stakes (1600m) back in May last year.

Other top fillies set to contest the Mittys Vanity on Saturday that are likely to get money come in for them when betting opens at Luxbet include Lee Freedman’s Morphettville Guineas winner Becerra (barrier 10), unbeaten filly Southern Speed (barrier nine) and the Peter Moody-trained Do Ra Mi seeking three straight wins on Saturday.

Betting markets on all the Lightning Stakes Day races including the Mittys Vanity will open at Australia’s leading online bookmaker Luxbet shortly so open your account today for the best horse racing odds in the country.
