Clarry Conners‘ two-year-old filly Satin Shoes has taken out the first race at Randwick today, winning the $100,000 Listed Widden Stakes for two-year-old fillies.

Beginning as $1.28 favourite, Satin Shoes ran a perfect race, beginning when she jumped well from barrier one to lead just in front of Chris Waller’s Ingham Magic who also jumped well from barrier three.

Gai Waterhouse’s Shared Reflections settled last in the field early on.

Satin Shoes led by a length at the home turn with Queensland filly Merryanna following behind in second.

Satin Shoes was never really challenged, although Ingham Magic came at her from the inside down the straight to finish an honest fourth, while Shared Reflections came from behind down the outside to place third.

Satin Shoes finished over a length in front of second place getter Elite Falls who finished a head in front of Shared Reflections.

Satin Shoes has now cemented herself as one of the early favourite for the 2011 Golden Slipper on April 2, 2011.

The filly has impeccable breeding,  with her sire Flying Spur winning the Golden Slipper in 1995.
