The much anticipated 2011 Breeders Classic is due to take place at 3.30pm (AEDST) today February 12, 2011, at Randwick Racecourse as one of four Group races held on Royal Sovereign Stakes Day.
The 2011 Breeders Classic has attracted a lot of attention with champion mare #1 More Joyous making her first appearance of the season.
More Joyous is currently paying $1.55 to win at Luxbet and is the only horse in the field paying less than $12.
Current second and third favourite are #7 Marquardt and #4 No Evidence Needed, both paying $12 at Luxbet.
Marquardt will be running from barrier tree in the 2011 Breeders Classic while No Evidence Needed will be jumping from five.
Currently the only scratching so far is Anthony Cummings’ #10 Sister Madly who will now run in the Group 3 Southern Cross Stakes in Race 4.
Anthony Cummings made the decision not to run his horse in the 2011 Breeders Classic in order to dodge the almost unbeatable More Joyous.
Despite feeling that the 2011 Breeders Classic was well suited to Sister Madly, her trainer feels she has more chance of winning in the Southern Cross Stakes.
“The mares’ race, other than Gai’s mare, is probably the right one, but the reality is More Joyous is there and you can’t change that,” Cummings said.

Almost impossible to fault, the classy mare has drawn the inside rail and will be ridden by jockey Nash Rawiller in the 2011 Breeders Classic.
