This Saturday, January 22, the feature race running at Rosehill Racecourse is the $250,000 Inglis Classic (1200m) a race restricted to two-year-old Inglis graduates.
The 2011 Inglis Classic field features eight promising juveniles lead by odds-on favourite Pane In The Glass, opening at the top of the Classic betting markets at a very short quote of $1.40 through Luxbet.
The John Thompson-trained Testa Rossa filly Pane In the Glass is unbeaten having won both of her career starts including her impressive three length victory in the Inglis Nursery at Randwick on December 18.
Thompson is out to emulate the fairytale story of trainer Michael Tubman whose filly Chance Bye claimed the Inglis Nursery / Inglis Classic double last year before going on to run in the Group 1 Golden Slipper.
Pane In The Glass, also one of the early favourites to win the 2011 Blue Diamond Stakes on February 26, will jump from barrier four on Saturday with Queensland hoop Jim Byrne in the mount.
Owned by powerhouse racing operation Patinack Farm, Pane In The Glass was purchased for just $32,000 at last year’s Inglis Classic Sales and has already amassed over $200,000 in prize money to date.
Second favourite in the Inglis Classic odds at Luxbet is Gerald Ryan’s exciting Beautiful Crown colt Pure Force paying $4.20.
Pure Force, drawn well in barrier three and set to be ridden by Kerrin McEvoy on Saturday, finished third to Pane In The Glass in the Inglis Classic.
The next shortest-priced entries in the Inglis Classic betting are California Poppy at $15 and Western Classic paying $16 at Luxbet.
Roughies of the field include Sailor’s World ($51) in their race debut, the Patrick & Wayne Webster-trained Amirah ($51) also on debut and Wyong galloper Dangerous Edition ($101).
For value try Sailor’s World for a Place at Luxbet, the Spinning World colt having shown promise in their recent barrier trial.
The 2011 Inglis Classic is scheduled as Rosehill Race 3 on Saturday, due to jump at 2:30pm (AEDST).
