The best racing action this weekend will take place on Saturday, November 20, with the Perth Summer Racing Carnival stepping up a gear with the running of Railway Stakes Day at Ascot Racecourse featuring four black-type features including the $80,000 Listed Tattersall’s Cup (2100m).
The 2010 Tattersall’s Cup final field features 11 quality stayers with Street Value and Double Barrel the two early favourites to win, drawn in barriers nine and 10 respectively.
The Michael Grant-trained Street Cry mare Street Value is coming off some very consistent form with back-to-back wins at Ascot over 2100m and 2200m in BM80+ events.
Adam Durrant’s seven-year-old gelding Double Barrel has also shown promise of late and their huge drop back in weight from 60kg last run to 53kg for the Tattersall’s Cup rockets them right into contention.
Other classy horses in the Tattersall’s Cup field out to cause an upset include O’Reilly seven-year-old Guyno (barrier three), improving five-year-old Brandy Lane (barrier two), Rivotio (barrier five) and Frank Maynard’s Anabaa gelding Geyser Peak (barrier seven).
Ascot’s biggest race of the summer, the $1 million Group 1 Railway Stakes (1600m), is also set to run on Saturday scheduled as Race 7.
The 2010 Tattersall’s Cup will take place one event earlier, due to jump at 6:05pm (AEDST).
