Anthony Cummings’ smart mare Lovemelikearock has won the final race at Randwick today, running clear of her rivals in the $100,000 Listed The Big6 Angst Stakes (1400m).
The Peter Moody-trained Live In Sin began fast and got the early lead, sitting at the front right until the turn.
The favourite Shannara found a nice spot tucked away behind the early leaders and patiently waited until the final 200m to strike.
On the home straight was when Lovemelikearock, ridden by Jim Cassidy, made their move up on the inside to battle it out with Live In Sin and Shannara.
But it was Fastnet Rock mare Lovemelikearock ($11) who was too strong for the others in the end, as she kicked back and pulled away to beat the favourite Shannara ($2.50), who put in a brave challenge, by a long neck with Live In Sin ($6) a further one and three quarters of a length away in a photo finish for third.
Lovemelikearock has now won three of her 10 career races, including last year’s Spring Champion Stakes, which was won by Erewhon for Peter Snowden today.
