On Thursday Flemington is ready to host another elite day of racing as the end of what has been a spectacular 2009 Spring Carnival draws near.
Crown Oaks Day is the traditional “Ladies Day” of the four-day Flemington Carnival and the feature of the meeting is the fillies’ equivalent to last Saturday’s Victoria Derby, the Group 1 $1million Crown Oaks (2500m).
The Crown Oaks is due to start at 3:00pm as race six on the card and will be contested by a high class field of females including Wakeful Stakes winner and race favourite, the Bart Cummings-trained Faint Perfume.
There are nine races in total held throughout Crown Oaks Day to keep punters and spectators entertained, including three Listed races which are Race 4 – Cadbury Rose Stakes (1200m), Race 7 –MYER Spring Fashion Stakes (1800m) and Race 8 – Service Stream Sprint (1100m).
Racing commences at 11:10am with the Seven Two Plate and concludes at 5:10 with the La Vie En Rose Vase.
