Warwick Stakes Betting Plunge Favours Sacred Choice

Sacred Choice is expected to lap up the heavy Warwick Farm surface

Sacred Choice is expected to lap up the heavy Warwick Farm track conditions.

If it’s the market movers you like to follow leading into a race then your pick is cut and dry for the 2011 Warwick Stakes tomorrow in Sydney.

Punters have only wanted to know about one horse leading into the race and that’s the mud loving mare Sacred Choice.

Some betting agencies were offering double figure odds for her when markets first opened but those quotes are long gone with a mountain of money flooding in for last season’s Doncaster Mile winner.

Punters appear to be over looking what is a somewhat modest first up record on the promise that she’ll handle the heavy conditions better than any of the others in the race.

She’s been trialling well and all reports from the Joe Pride camp are positive, so expect Sacred Choice to well and truly run a race at Warwick Farm tomorrow.

“She usually runs in shorter races at the start of her preparations but the only time she has won first-up was over 1300m,” Pride said.

“So, it is very much in her favour to be racing over 1400m. She is still pretty soft but she is well in herself and generally when horses are like that, they can sprint well fresh.

“This mare can pull out a run first-up. She will be ridden conservatively from that bad barrier (10) and I expect her to find the line well.”

As the only mare in the race she benefits with a handy 2kg weight advantage from most of the field, and the distance is well within her means.

Will her ideal distance is certainly a mile, she’s a lot closer to a 1400m specialist then the half a dozen or so stayers in the field building towards cups glory.

She’s also shooting for history in the form of a Doncaster / Warwick Stakes double.

Private Steer did it most recently in 2004 and Sunline did it previously in 1999.

Before that it was Super Impose in 1990 and then a massive gap back to Chatham in 1934.

According to online bookmaker Luxbet which is offering the best odds on the 2011 Warwick Stakes, Sacred Choice is currently paying $6.00 fixed price on their market.

She’s still behind the favourite Pinwheel at $4.60 and Ilovethiscity at $5.00.

The other horse at the top of the market is Triple Elegance at $6.50 before a gap back to Black Piranha at $12.

You can grab these odds now at Luxbet but move quickly because with the amount of money already invested on the 2011 Warwick Stakes it wouldn’t surprise if they had some big shifts before race day.

As long as the rain is falling in Sydney Scared Choice will be shortening, so get on now at the Tabcorp owned Luxbet!
