A superb ride from James McDonald has seen the Jamie Richards-trained Entriviere take out an exciting edition of the Group 2 Sheraco Stakes at Kembla Grange.
The promising five-year-old daughter of Tavistock was installed as the short-priced $2.60 favourite in the $200,000 fillies and mares’ race, and now looks headed for bigger and better things this spring, starting with the Golden Pendant at Rosehill in a fortnight’s time and the inaugural $2 million ‘The Invitation’ on October 23.
“We will probably go to the Golden Pendant in a fortnight. There is a race a week later, the Premiere Stakes, we could look at but I’m more inclined to keep her again to fillies and mares,” Richards said after the race.
“I’m concentrating on having her ready to win The Invitation. So she can have a month between runs and a trial into The Invitation – she’s at her best with her races spaced.”
McDonald, who picked up his third Sheraco win, did a brilliant job stalking the speed from midfield before pressing the button at the 200m mark to grab the lead from Written Beauty and win by a length.
Richards’ New Zealand import was having just her second run in Australia after seeing her unbeaten streak come to an end back in April when a narrow second to Fasika in the Group 2 Sapphire Stakes over 1200m at Randwick.
Prior to that, Entriviere rattled off three successive wins across the ditch – the highlight being a 2.5L win at Ellsbury in the Group 3 Kings Plate.
“Lovely mare. She has an impeccable record. She’s had a couple of blemishes but apart from that, her determination is just incredible. Very tractable filly or mare now and you can do anything with her. I think there is more to come from her,” McDonald said.
Entriviere has been installed as $4.00 chance in Ladbrokes’ All-In The Invitation market, which can be viewed here.
