A good barrier draw will assist Champagne Cuddles in winning a maiden Group 1 trophy in the $500,000 Sky Racing Tattersall’s Club Tiara (1350m) at Doomben on Saturday.

Champagne Cuddles has been placed in all her four outings at Group 1 level, her last two at Doomben during the Queensland Winter Racing Carnival with a third in the $700,000 Altus Traffic Kingsford-Smith Cup (1350m) followed by a third in the $1.5m Stradbroke Handicap (1350m).

The Tattersall’s Club Tiara for the fillies and mares is the last Group 1 race to be decided in the 2017-2018 racing season and jockey Corey Brown will be able to give Champagne Cuddles every possible chance from barrier four in the sixteen horse field.

Trainer Bjorn Baker said that he would love to see Champagne Cuddles end her three year old year with a Group 1 win beside her name and is thankful to have drawn a nice barrier.

“I would obviously love to finish her three-year-old season with her a Group One winner,” Baker told AAP.

“You don’t need me to tell you how important black-type is for a filly in regards the breeding barn.”

“But she should be able to race closer this time from barrier four.”

Champagne Cuddles has held her spot at the top of the betting markets for the Tattersall’s Club Tiara and is the $5.50 favourite with Ladbokes.com.au.

The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained Prompt Response is pressuring Champagne Cuddles for favouritism and has firmed into $6 following some solid support.

Stradbroke Handicap runner up Super Cash is next in the betting at $9 while last start Hinkler Handicap winner Savanna Amour is the only other runner under the $10 mark at $9.50.

Kiwi mare Volpe Veloce has had some specking at long odds with her price being halved from $61 to $31 on Thursday afternoon.

The Group 1 winning Volpe Veloce has had one run in Queensland for a three and a quarter lengths sixth to Impending in the Kingsford-Smith Cup.
