Blue Diamond Stakes Day 2020 steals the show in Melbourne today, Saturday February 22, and below we go over the latest Caulfield race scratchings and track report ahead of the first.
Melbourne has turned on the weather for Blue Diamond Day with sunny skies, a top temperature of just 21 degrees and without any chance of rainfall the current Good (4) Caulfield track rating looks set to stay across the day making for perfect conditions.
Caulfield racing kicks off at 12:35pm (AEDT) and the nine-race program continues through until the last when the Australian Cup hopes face off in the Group 2 2020 Peter Young Stakes at 5:30pm (AEDT).
There’s a triple shot of elite level racing on the line-up starting with Race 6 at 3:30pm (AEDT) when star Kiwi mare Melody Belle ($3.20 @ Ladbrokes.com.au) chases her 11th Group 1 victory taking on the brilliant Caulfield Guineas winner Super Seth ($2.70 @ Ladbrokes.com.au) in the 2020 Futurity Stakes.
The meeting’s marquee race is next on the card with Fayerra (14) the sole scratching from the Group 1 2020 Neds Blue Diamond Stakes field where Anthony Freedman’s undefeated colt Hanseatic ($2.70 @ Ladbrokes.com.au) is the one to beat again.
A capacity field of sprinters then do battle in the Group 1 2020 Oakleigh Plate at 4:50pm (AEDT) including the triple-figure emergency runner Vainstream (1) coming in for the scratched I Am Immortal (18).
