Early favourite to take out the Magic Millions 2YO Classic 2017 at the Gold Coast on Saturday Houtzen has suffered a blow drawing the outside alley in the capacity field for the $2 million feature.

The official barrier draw for the $2 million Jeep Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1200m) took place live at the Gold Coast on Tuesday morning with gates allocated to all sixteen starters plus the five emergencies.

Pre-barriers the local Toby Edmonds-trained filly Houtzen was all the rage in Magic Millions 2YO Classic betting at Ladbrokes.com.au.

The daughter of I Am Invincible has eased out to $3.70 after drawing barrier 21, which will become 16 of 16 when the emergencies come out.

She raced to the top of betting last weekend with her tearaway four and a half-length Gold Coast win over 1100m under the guidance of Jeff Lloyd who retains the ride this weekend.

New favourite in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic odds after the barrier draw is the Chris Waller-trained From Within ($3.60) who came up trumps with barrier seven.

That could become four if the emergencies fail to gain a start as four of the five spares drawing between barrier nine and two.

Hugh Bowman is booked to ride Waller’s daughter of Not A Single Doubt, the hoop chasing a third win in the race after his victories aboard Bradbury’s Luck (2005) and Mimi Lebrock (2007).

From Within comes off a win on debut at Canterbury from New Year’s Eve and if successful on the weekend will be the first Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner to take out the race at just their second start.

Early market mover post the Magic Millions 2YO Classic 2017 barrier draw is the unbeaten Chris Munce-trained Queenslander Ours To Keep ($7.50 into $7).

A winner of all three of his career runs, the Seidnazar colt comes off a smart one and three-quarter length Brisbane win in the Group 3 B.J. McLachlan Stakes (1200m).

He saluted from barrier two (of 13) in that after also getting the run of the race in the Listed Phelan Ready Stakes (1100m) the run prior from gate three (of 10).

Damian Browne continues his association with Ours To Keep on Magic Millions Day and has drawn ideally once again in barrier four.

The rails run from barrier one meanwhile belongs to the Lindsay Park-trained Madeenaty ($7.50) to be ridden by Mark Zahra.

Prepared by David & Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig the Exceed And Excel filly comes off a win in the Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic from December 22.

She proved she could handle the right-way of racing that day and gets things her way the inside alley on Saturday.

Other key chances and their Magic Millions Classic barriers this summer include: the Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott-trained Group 3 winning filly Invincible Star (16), Bjorn Baker’s BJ McLachlan Stakes runner-up Goodfella (barrier 14) and Munce’s other runner Champ Elect (barrier 17).
