Hot Snitzel Claims Honours in 2014 Hall Mark Stakes

Talented five-year-old Hot Snitzel has completed and all-round strong ride to win the 2014 Group 3 Hall Mark Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick this afternoon ahead of resounding pre-post favourite Knoydart and Aeronautical.

Jumping well, the Snitzel gelding settled in prime position on the heels of early leaders That’s A Good Idea and Emblems, comfortably breaking clear of the pack upon reaching the final straight and finding the post more than a length in the clear.

Trainer Gerald Ryan was understandably pleased to claim the day’s first Group level event, and was quick to lay the praise on the class and longevity of Hot Snitzel.

“He was terrific, beautiful ride” Ryan said following the Hall Mark Stakes.

“His second-up form isn’t all that crash hot, but the horse is going a lot better this time and he’s been a great little horse.

“He ran in the Golden Slipper three years ago and he’s the only one out of the whole field who is still racing and he just keeps backing up and he gives his best.”

Jockey Hugh Bowman delivered a sensational ride on Hot Snitzel in the 2014 Hall Mark Stakes, and was particularly pleased to chalk up an early victory on his final Sydney race card before heading taking up a contract to ride in Hong Kong.

“He’s a quality horse; he’s not a headline horse but he’s been turning up every carnival for the l;ast four years and winning races” Bowman said immediately after dismounting.

“He’s a credit to the Triple Crown team (owners) and he’s a credit to Gerald Ryan who just keeps him up.

“It’s an honour to ride him; I’ve had a lot of success on him in the past and I just got back on him on the right day.

“We’re heading over to Hong Kong tonight, so adding another string to the bow so to speak.”

Finishing second in the Group 3 Sebring Stakes (1200m) first-up on April 5th, Hot Snitzel is now likely to head north of the border to contest events over the 2014 Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival.

Ladbrokes.com.au is currently offering the best odds on all races remaining on this afternoon’s impressive Randwick race card!

Punters who backed Hot Snitzel and have signed up for the all-new Ladbrokes Card will already have the ability to access their winnings!
