AAMI Victoria Derby Day Programme

Today’s Victoria Derby Day will be an epic race day which includes three Group Three races, two Group Two races and four Group One races. Worth more than $4.5 million in prize money, the race day will feature a total of nine races beginning with the Inglis Carbine Club Stakes at 11.10am and concluding at 5.10pm with the AAMI Business Insurance Stakes.

The biggest race held will be the AAMI Victoria Derby which commences at 2.55pm AEDST. There are currently 11 runners in this event with Rockferry as the current favourite. The Mackinnon Stakes is the second largest event of the day and will feature 12 runners including 2008 Melbourne Cup winner Viewed and current race favourite Rangirangdoo.

Although the Lexus Stakes is not a Group One race, it is a highly regarded event as the winner of the 2500m event is exempt from ballot in the Melbourne Cup. This year there are nine horses running in the Lexus Stakes which are yet to qualify for the top 24 in the Melbourne Cup’s order of entry.
