Silver Shadow Stakes 2019 Betting: Libertini Odds-On

The exciting Anthony Cummings-trained filly Libertini is odds-on and firming in 2019 Silver Shadow Stakes betting for this weekend at Royal Randwick tipped to salute in her first Group win on Winx Stakes Day.

Part-owned by Gerry Harvey, the daughter of I Am Invincible is set to take on eight rivals in the Group 2 $200,000 Darley Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m) after one early scratching from the three-years-old fillies’ clash.

Rival trainer Chris Waller opted to bypass a clash with the highly-spruiked Libertini with his own gun daughter of I Am Invincible, Lucicello.

The grey was third last time out only a quarter-length beaten by Dawn Passage in the Listed The Rosebud (1100m) and will take on the boys instead again racing earlier on the card in the Group 3 $160,000 Up And Coming Stakes (1300m).

The early withdrawal of Lucicello from the Silver Shadow Stakes field has seen the odds on hot favourite Libertini firm further and she’s been backed from $1.80 to $1.75.

Tommy Berry is back in the saddle of the untapped filly after riding her to victory at Scone in May’s Listed Woodlands Stakes (1100m) where she beat Kris Lees’ roughie Regimental Band by over two lengths.

That was her second win on the trot after she blitzed her rivals in a two-year-old fillies’ maiden at Randwick on ANZAC Day by three lengths following a second on debut behind Bivouac in the Group 3 Kindergarten Stakes (1100m).

That Kindergarten Stakes form has since been franked with the Godolphin-raced winner Bivouac impressive first-up at Caulfield last weekend winning the Group 3 Vain Stakes (1100m) by a runaway four and a quarter-lengths.

Libertini also looked impressive at Randwick on August 12 with a smart trial win over 1000m and from gate two she’ll be racing up on the speed making her a hard to beat favourite.

Just two of the other fillies are under double-figures in Silver Shadow Stakes betting this season with the James Cummings-trained duo of Tenley and Flit currently at an equal $4.80 for Godolphin.

James McDonald rides Medaglia D’Oro grey Tenley from gate five, the filly looking to atone for her two unplaced Group 1 runs at the end of the autumn.

She had a big wrap on her early after winning the Pierro Stakes (1100m) and Group 2 Reisling Stakes (1200m) at Randwick before wet tracks saw her finish at the tail end of the Golden Slipper Stakes (15th) and ATC Sires’ (10th).

Flit has the outside alley to overcome first-up with Hugh Bowman in the saddle, the Group 3 winner at Flemington last seen crossing a nostril-flare back for second behind Anaheed at the track and distance on April 13 in the Group 2 Percy Sykes Stakes (1200m).

For value the punters are looking around at the likes of the Bjorn Baker-trained Let It Pour ($12) and the rails-drawn Pretty Brazen who has been backed in from $20 to $16 for the upset.

If The Rosebud form is to be followed, Redoute’s Choice filly Let It Pour caught the eye in that race fresh when narrowly beaten running second at big odds.

Still a maiden, her only other career run was behind Anaheed in early March when two lengths back third in the Group 2 Sweet Embrace Stakes (1200m).

Pretty Brazen meanwhile is a last-start winner for Victorian horseman Tony McEvoy, the Brazen Beau filly having saluted by three lengths in much easier company taking out at SABOIS Maiden Plate at Murray Bridge.
