The 2017 Victoria Derby Results saw the James Cummings-trained Prized Icon score an upset win as a $17 outsider in VRC Derby betting, Glyn Schofield riding the son of More Than Ready for a career best performance. It was a perfectly-timed ride from Schofield aboard the Victoria Derby 2017 winner Prized Icon who improved on a lead-up fifth in the Group 2 Moonee Valley Vase (2040m) the Saturday before on Ladbrokes Cox Plate Day.

On the line Prized Icon had two and a half lengths to spare over the Moonee Valley Vase winner Sacred Elixir who had to settle for second in the 2016 Victoria Derby quinella as the beaten $2.70 favourite. Rounding out the first three past the post was the Team Hawkes-trained Inference.
