2017 Victoria Derby Results

  • 1st: #1 Ace High
  • 2nd: #6 Sully
  • 3rd: #3 Astoria

The Group 1 $1.5 illion Victoria Derby (2500m) is the feature race on Victoria Derby Day, which kicks off the Melbourne Cup Carnival, and the Victoria Derby field features a line-up of the season’s best three-year-old stayers.

The 2017 Victoria Derby field is due for release on Tuesday October 31, four days before the race runs on Saturday November 4, 2017 – the Saturday before the Melbourne Cup takes place on the first Tuesday of November.

Before the release of the Victoria Derby field each Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival, the Victoria Derby nominations are taken in September. This is followed by Victoria Derby first acceptances in October and then the final field of Victoria Derby acceptances.

As an indication of horses likely to contest the Victoria Derby field it is a good idea to watch the earlier three-year-old races like the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) held three weeks earlier.

The Victoria Derby 2017 Final Field is now out with Spring Champion Stakes winner Ace High in barrier three chasing a third win on the trot.
