Stay tuned for our insider Brisbane Cup 2023 Tips on the two-mile winter showdown this Stradbroke Day.

  • To Win: #5 True Marvel ($13 at time of publish) – BET NOW

Teofilo Star heads the markets but happy to take them on with another hurdler in this flat race feature and have the in-form Matthew Smith-trained True Marvel on top. The consistent seven-year-old is a genuine stayer with a nice 3200m strike-rate (5:1-2-0). In jumps races he has winning form up to 3800m. He was last seen winning a two-mile hurdle race by over three lengths with 69.5kg on May 30. This weekend he drops right back to 55kg with Kerrin McEvoy aboard in two big ticks. Group 1 Sydney Cup runner-up at 100/1 at this distance a few runs back and looks overs in the markets again here.

2023 Brisbane Cup Field

The Brisbane Cup field draws a smart line-up of winter stayers coming out of lead-up runs earlier in the carnival including the Group 3 Premier’s Cup (2400m) at Eagle Farm a fortnight prior on Kingsford-Smith Cup Day or even the Group 1 Doomben Cup (2000m). Sixties Groove (3rd in 2019) was the last Doomben Cup graduate to go on to win the Brisbane Cup.

The official Brisbane Cup 2023 final field and barriers will be out the Wednesday of race week and published below in full.

The 2023 Brisbane Cup field features a quality line-up of winter stayers with the Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott-trained jumps horse Teofilo Star clear favourite after drawing the inside alley.
