This course is 2010 metres in circumference and offers a home straight distance of 400 metres. The track has two chutes and is run clockwise. It is known as being somewhat of an unusual shape and must be drawn from the 1250 metre start.
In addition to being a fantastic country track, this racecourse offers fantastic facilities. There are betting facilities such as on-course bookies and a VIP TAB. They also offer a bar, beautifully manicured picnic areas and gardens, and plenty of restaurants.
Muswellbrook Racecourse hosts approximately 20 races per year. The course is most famous for the two day Muswellbrook Gold Cup Carnival. Normally held over two days at the beginning of November (coinciding with the Melbourne Cup), the course lights up with a full race card as well as plenty of extra activities and live entertainment. The race itself is a 1750 metre open handicap with $40,000 in prize money.
