With roots dating all the way back to 1874, the Lismore Racecourse has developed into a staple of the New South Wales racing scene. Previously known as Carlton Park and Pescud Park, the course was renamed the Lismore Racecourse in 1924.
The total circumference of the Lismore Racecourse is 2100 metres with two chutes. It is a grass track that is known for the excellent views of the winning post from nearly anywhere on the course. There is a large grassed area located directly in front of the post, which attracts both families and fans that want an unbeatable view of all the racing action. It can also be viewed from the Grand Stand or Members Stand as both offer fantastic views of the entire track.
While the course is used predominantly for racing purposes, it is also known as an excellent venue for a variety of events. This ranges from concerts to weddings. It boasts the distinguished Winning Post Function Centre, which can be hired out for a number of functions.
This course hosts a number of thoroughbred races every year with most of the events taking place between September and December. The most popular Lismore Racecourse event is the XXXX Gold Lismore Cup held on the last Thursday of September. The day offers a full program of races along with plenty of other events and live entertainment for families, punters, enthusiasts, and fashionistas to enjoy.
