Buffering is facing a disrupted campaign after heavy rain continued to fall across Brisbane today.

The four-year-old gelding is supposed to be partaking in an exhibition gallop alongside stablemate Woorimbetween races at the Australia Day meeting this Thursday in Brisbane.

Buffering will miss a planned exhibition gallop at Doomben this Thursday if the rain in Brisbane continues.

Doomben Racecourse is currently rated as a Heavy 8, and with weather not expected to let up over the next few days, the track may not be suitable for the pair.

Trainer Robert Heathcote may aim to run both Woorim and Buffering at Eagle Farm on Saturday instead if the weather improves.

“It looks like it’s going to be pretty wet following all the rain we’ve had and I may have to reassess things on the day,” Heathcote said.

“If I don’t gallop them on Thursday I may be able to work them on Saturday between races.”

The exhibition gallop is due to the give both Buffering and Woorim the opportunity to have a hit up in preparation for their autumn racing carnival debuts in Melbourne.

Buffering is due to resume in the Group 1 Lightning Stakes at Flemington on February 18, while Woorim will debut in the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate at Caulfield on February 25.

The pair will both then run in the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap before Woorim heads to Sydney for the remainder of the autumn racing season.

Heathcote will be looking to win the first group 1 race of his career this autumn after Buffering could not finish better than second to Black Caviar in the Group 1 Patinack Farm Classic.

“It’s unfortunate that I’ve run into a once-in-a-generation horse like Black Caviar,” Heathcote said.

“Buffering ran third to Black Caviar and Hay List in last year’s BTC Cup at Doomben and ran second to her in the Patinack Farm Classic.

“Woorim has been desperately unlucky in three Group Ones in the Sir Rupert Clarke in 2010 and last year in the Patinack Farm Classic and Stradbroke.

“That’s five Group Ones I’ve missed with them but I’m not too concerned.

It was business as usual for Black Caviar in the 2011 Patinack Farm Classic winning without so much as a single rev up from jockey Luke Nolen.

It was just as effortless as it always is with punters investing millions of dollars for a tiny return without even breaking a sweat.

There were some individual bets of six figure sums on Black Caviar in the 2011 Patinack Farm Classic but after she jumped cleanly form the gates they were as good as paid out.

Buffering took up the early running and Black Caviar sat just off him in behind biding her time.

It wasn’t so much that Nolen told her to go at the 400m mark, she more just cruised up alongside Buffering as he was running at top flight.

From there she was still held back as she went to the lead and the whip was an unrequited accessory for Nolen throughout the journey.

Buffering held on well for second spot ahead of Mid Summer Music which finished off ok ahead of Curtana.

This little more that can be said about Black Caviar, she’s now won 16 straight and once again she never even looked like being challenged.

It’s a surreal ride for Nolen but he knows every time he comes out he has the weight of a nation on his shoulders.

“They expect her to win, you don’t want to disappoint anyone,” he said.

“Because she’s got this magnificent record we really want to keep it in tact.”

He says it’s such a nice feeling to get back on a champion like Black caviar, especially given his Melbourne Cup Carnival hasn’t been overly fruitful in 2011.

“I’m just over the moon, it’s been a frustrating week for the team and myself so it’s good to get a Group 1 win,” he said.

“She’d done a fantastic job, she’s great ambassador for Australian racing.”

For Peter Moody it’s enough mark to add to the tally and another race he’s got through without a hiccup.

“Its’ relief for me, I’m just grateful to be a little part of it,” he said.

“It’s just great she’s been able to put on a show for the crowd.’

The million dollar question is will she continue on a path to the Winterbottom Stakes in Perth, something those in the West are desperate for.

“The plane goes on Tuesday night, ill have a chat to the owners maybe Monday morning,” he said.

“I’d love to go but we’ve got to make sure the horse is right first.

“It’s a hot day and the track is pretty firm.”

The final odds ended up being not quite as short as we were thinking with Luxbet paying out a best price of $1.10

Ten percent on your money in the most easiest of ways isn’t too bad a result at all so there will be tens of thousands of healthier looking bank accounts after Black caviar’s win.

Join the rush and join what is effectively a money train by joining Luxbet now.

The 2011 Patinack Farm Classic is one of two Group 1 showdowns bringing the Melbourne Cup Carnival to a close at Flemington this Saturday, and while Black Caviar will win, the question then becomes which two horses will get closest to the undefeated queen and finish off the Patinack Farm Classic Trifecta.

The Races.com.au team are tipping Buffering to run third in the 2011 Patinack Farm Classic on Saturday

Having studied the Patinack Farm Classic Field and Form Guide, the Races.com.au team have also had a look back over the historical stats and had a look at the race replays of Black Caviar’s rivals in their last starts to help us make our two-three selections for the $1 million sprint.

Below are our exclusive Patinack Farm Classic tips, as well as our roughie selection, because we always love to throw a sneaky dollar on an underdog through Luxbet.

2011 Patinack Farm Classic Tips

Flemington Race 5 Betting – 05/11/2011

1st: #3 Black Caviar

$1.05 to Win at Luxbet

She is the mare that needs no introduction and really, we don’t have to spell out all the reasons why Black Caviar has this one in the bag and why she will go back-to-back in the Patinack soaring to her 16th consecutive career victory.

Saturday could possibly be the last start at Flemington for Moody’s ace asset, so don’t miss out on your chance to back the best at a price that may be short but that is still better than bank interest at Luxbet!

She is 15 from 15, faces an inferior field of just six rivals, is five from five at Flemington, 11 form 11 at the distance, and she is a superstar.

2nd: #5 Mid Summer Music

$26 to Win at Luxbet

Huge gap in the Patinack Farm Classic odds from first elect to second, and deservedly so. But we are sticking with the bookies with this one and are tipping Moody to secure the Patinack Farm Classic Exacta with smart six-year-old Mid Summer Music.

She comes off a sixth to Sister Madly in the Group 2 Salinger Stakes (1200m), a better effort than it looks considering she jumped from double digits and was only beaten one and a quarter lengths.

Ben Melham, who replaced the suspended Luke Nolen to ride Black Caviar to victory in this 12 months ago, gets the ride.

Mid Summer Music also boasts the second highest win rate behind her glamour stablemate with 52.95% and the 1200 metres is her pet distance, she has won five from nine over it and run second once.

3rd: #2 Buffering

$31 to Win at Luxbet

Was a real toss up for us here whether to keep following the Patinack Farm Classic betting markets and go with the third elect to run third, or go out on a limb and say the trifecta belongs to Moody with #6 Curtana ($51) to fill the final place.

In the end we went with our instinct which said Buffering, Rob Heathcote is firing with Woorim winning on Derby Day and lining up in the Emirates Stakes on Saturday, so cheers to the Queenslander!

Buffering won the Group 3 Mitty’s McEwen Stakes (1000m) first-up for the season before his fourth to Sepoy in the Manikato.

Last start was admittedly a little disappointing when he was beaten seven lengths running sixth to Sepoy in the Caulfield Sprint, but back up to 1200 metres – which he has won four and placed twice in four of his 12 starts over – he should be a little more competitive.

Has a solid strike rate of 42.11% and has run third to Black Caviar before in the BTC Cup at Doomben back in May.

Roughie Pick: #6 Curtana

$51 to Win at Luxbet

As we said before, it was a tough call for us not to include Curtana in the Patinack Farm Trifecta, so we will definitely have a separate Place bet on her through Luxbet just in case!

She is drawn in three where she is set to get a nice run on the inside of Black Caviar, has twice won over the distance, has form at the Track and distance making her a good pick down the straight – forgiving her failure last-start in the Salinger.

So there you have it! The Patinack Farm Classic First Four quandary solved.

Whether it is our Patinack Farm Classic tips or your own you are keen to lock in, you will find the hottest odds on the race at Luxbet.

Luxbet are also offering exclusive ‘Without Black Caviar’ odds on the race with Mid Summer Music paying $2.80 to Win in a field excluding the favourite.

So head to Luxbet now and check out all of their Emirates Stakes Day odds and specials, and if you are a first-time depositing customer remember to quote the exclusive promo BONUSBET to get up to $500 as a bonus bet!

She is arguably the best sprint mare Australia, possibly the world, has seen in recent history and on Saturday the unbeaten Black Caviar will once again start the deserved odds-on favourite when she lines up for her 16th career run, and likely win, in the 2011 Patinack Farm Classic.

Black Caviar is $1.05 to win the 2011 Patinack Farm Classic on Saturday

Running as Flemington Race 5 at 2:15pm (AEDT), the $1 million Group 1 Patinack Farm Classic (1200m) is Black Caviar’s for the taking with the defending champ opening at $1.05 in the Luxbet markets to go back-to-back in the Emirates Stakes Day sprint and extend her unbeaten career record to 16.

Unsurprisingly there are no other horses in the Patinack Farm Classic field and odds at single-figures, the next shortest-priced of her brave rivals being one of Black Caviar’s three stablemates engaged, Mid Summer Music at $26 through Luxbet.

Rob Heathcote’s Queensland raider Buffering occupies the third line of Patinack Farm Classic betting paying $31 followed by veteran galloper Scenic Blast and class mare Response at $41 each.

Moody’s two other hopes round out the markets with Curtana at a juicy $51 and Panipique the $201 roughie.

Supporting the bookies Patinack Farm Classic judgment, Moody expressed concerns about the Testa Rossa mare running the 1200 metres competitively.

“All my mares are in good shape,” he said.

“I have genuine concerns of Panipique at a strong 1200, but both Curtana and Mid Summer Music are in good form.”

While the quality of the Patinack Farm Classic field is undeniably weak, excluding of course the superstar in the mix, Moody has urged the race fans and punters not to shy away saying that while top-notch rivals may be avoiding her it didn’t take away from her superstar status.

“Why wouldn’t you want to see a once-in-a-lifetime sprinter in action?” Moody said.

“We don’t pick the opposition.

“She is there to take on all-comers but clearly rivals are avoiding her.

“I have had to put three of her stablemates into the race to make a field.

“You don’t get a champion like her too often in your lifetime and we should be appreciating her, not worrying about what short odds she is or what opposition is pitted against her.”

Saturday will be a special day for jockey Luke Nolen who missed the winning ride aboard his ace mount in the Patinack 12 months ago due to suspension, Ben Melham having taken over the duties to salute aboard the glamour mare for her maiden Group 1 success.

“He was disappointed last year, no doubt in the world, but Luke’s a straight shooter who gets on with life and moves on pretty quickly,” Moody said.

“But he has been a big part of her career the whole way through and certainly it will be to our benefit to have him there (this Saturday).”

After defending her Patinack Farm Classic crown on Saturday Black Caviar is set for an assault on Perth for the $500,000 Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes (1200m) at Ascot on November 19.

Black Caviar is again the horse to beat when the superlative sprinter steals the Emirates Stakes Day spotlight at Flemington this Saturday vying for her incredible 16th consecutive career success in the 2011 Patinack Farm Classic.

Want to really clean up on Emirates Stakes Day?
One of two elite levels at Flemington’s closing Melbourne Cup Carnival meeting along with the Emirates Stakes 2011, the $1 million Group 1 Patianack Farm Classic (1200m) has this year attracted a final field of just seven with Peter Moody’s undefeated queen scaring away the majority of the spring sprint stars.

Black Caviar is out for back-to-back Patinack Farm Classic wins on Saturday

Last seen racing her way into the history books with another freakishly authoritative six length victory in the Group 2 Schweppes Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on Cox Plate Day, Australia’s reigning Horse of the Year Black Caviar returns to Flemington on Saturday for the first time since March.

Twelve months ago she faced the same number of Patinack Farm Classic rivals, defeating all six in emphatic style including runner-up Star Witness by four lengths, which was her maiden Group 1 turf triumph.

Since Emirates Stakes Day last year Black Caviar has exceeded the expectations of all and become a genuine cult horse with another five elite level victories during her autumn – winter campaign.

Back for the spring Black Caviar has successfully defended her titles in both the Schillci and Schweppes Stakes and now she is out for back-to-back Patianck Farm Classic wins as well.

In the pre-field Patinack Farm Classic 2011 odds at Luxbet Black Caviar was already odds-on at $1.06 to win.

With her rivals now officially announced and Black Caviar drawing ideally in barrier four, she jumped from gate six in last year’s edition, she is set to start at possibly her shortest price yet.

Moody has an incredible stranglehold over the Patinack Farm Classic this year, not only with the sure-to-be winner Black Caviar, but he has also accepted for three of her smart stablemates.

Black Caviar will be accompanied in the 2011 Patinack Farm Classic field by stablemates:

#5 Mid Summer Music (barrier 2) – Ben Melham to ride this six-year-old mare, multiple Group winner, in her last eight starts has won four, run second twice, placed third once and was last seen finishing a close sixth beaten one and a quarter lengths by Sister Madly in the Group 2 Salinger Stakes (1200m) on Derby Day

#6 Curtana (barrier 3) – Exceed And Excel mare was in flying form when second to Sepoy in the Caulfield Sprint before her disappointing 13th in the Salinger, something amiss or did the big field and inside draw just not suit?

#7 Panipique (barrier 7) – Testa Rossa four-year-old least-fancied of the Moody contingent here having been unplaced in her last two runs, barrier 7 looks bad on paper but will actually suit her racing style better than an inside draw

Rounding out the Patinack Farm Classic field are then:

Dan Morton’s gallant old galloper Scenic Blast on the rails who ran last to Black Caviar in the Schweppes Stakes in their first-up run in 11 months

Robert Heathcote’s gallant sprinter Buffering giving it another crack having been beaten by the queen in the BTC Cup during the winter, didn’t fire when sixth in the Caulfield Sprint last-start but looks a genuine place chance

Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra-trained five-year-old mare Response, a dual Group 1 winner who will relish coming back to the 1200m here after getting found out of the Myer when beaten nearly 16 lengths in the Myer Classic on Derby Day

Jeff Lynds‘ consistent Kiwi visitor and defending champion Wall Street is one of the drawcard entries for the 2011 Emirates Stakes, nominations for one of two final elite levels of the Melbourne Cup Carnival taken by Racing Victoria on Monday.

Don't miss out on your $500 spring bonus bet - join Luxbet now and quote the promo code BONUSBET when making your first deposit!

The headline race of Emirates Stakes Day at the famous Flemington Racecourse on Saturday November 5, the $1 million Group 1 Emirates Stakes (1600m) attracted a star-studded list of 35 nominees.

Wall Street is back to defend their Emirates Stakes title in 2011

While Wall Street hasn’t seen the inside of a winners’ stall since their Emirates Stakes upset 12 months ago, the now seven-year-old has been in excellent form since arriving in Australia again in early October.

After finishing three lengths away fourth to fellow New Zealander King Mufhasa in the Toorak Handicap over the mile at Caulfield on October 8, Wall Street produced the eye-catching run of the Cox Plate to come from the back of the field and finish less than two lengths away fourth to winner Pinker Pinker.

Last year before their Emirates Stakes success Wall Street ran seventh in the Cox Plate, and they look on track for a gallant title defense on Saturday having recovered from the minor bout of colic that saw them scratched from last Saturday’s Mackinnon Stakes.

Cox Plate runner-up Jimmy Choux, another gun Kiwi galloper, has also been nominated for the Emirates Stakes 2011.

The John Bary-trained Thorn Park four-year-old is looking to add a sixth elite level to their incredibly impressive record, their second in Australia after winning the Rosehill Guineas in the autumn.

One horse fresh off a Victoria Derby Day victory has been entered in an attempt to win on successive Saturdays at Flemington with the Robert Heathcote-trained Woorim.

Woorim upset a quality field of middle-distance gallopers in the Group 3 tab.com.au Stakes (1400m) on Derby Day overcoming the extreme outside barrier (15 of 15) to put two lengths on runner-up Thankgodyou’rehere when ridden by Michael Rodd who retains the ride in the Emirates.

Other Notable 2011 Emirates Stakes Nominations Include:

Secret Admirer (Grahame Begg) – Bypassed a Derby Day run to go straight into this off the back of her Cox Plate fifth, will be ridden by Brenton Avdulla with the Dubawi mare looking for a spring Group 1 double following her Epsom Handicap victory

Love Conquers All (Michael, Wayne & John Hawkes) – Mossman stallion has been racing consistently this spring with two Group wins, most recently in the Group 3 Betfair Stakes at Caulfield over 1400m on Caulfield Cup Day, second in the Doncaster Mile back in April which has been their only run over 1600m to date

Toorak Toff (Rick Hore-Lacy) – Recent Group 1 winner of the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes, last seen running third to Woorim in on Derby Day with 59kg, three previous mile runs have been disappointing but connections giving it another crack

King’s Rose (Peter Moody) – One of the spruik spring mares in raging form until the Cox Plate, won back-to-back Group 2 races for her opening two starts in Australia then finished a close second in the Toorak, Cox Plate seventh was game and she will appreciate coming back to the mile

Testa My Patience (Mick Price) – Progressive miler stole the show in the Group 2 Crystal Mile (1600m) on Cox Plate Day at the Valley, has decent Flemington form with two seconds from two starts at the track

The Emirates Stakes is one of two Group 1 races on the final Melbourne Cup Carnival meeting, the other being the highly-anticipated $1 million Patinack Farm Classic (1200m) where sprint queen Black Caviar shoots for her 16th straight success.

Final fields for all of the Emirates Stakes Day races will be released on Wednesday and published right here at Races.com.au.

Sepoy has claimed another Group 1 with a win in the Coolmore Stud Stakes

Superstar colt Sepoy gave trainer Peter Snowden his second Victoria Derby Day victory in the fourth this afternoon, the now four-time Group 1 champion hanging on to dispalay an iron will to win in the $500,000 Coolmore Stud Stakes(1200m).

Winner of the Blue Diamond Stakes – Golden Slipper double as a juvenile, and more recently taking care of the older horses in the Manikato Stakes, Elusive Quality three-year-old Sepoy went into double digit wins with the Coolmore Stud Stakes 2011 their 10th career success from 11 starts.

He was the first horse in Australian racing history to win the Blue Diamond Stakes and Golden Slipper and then come back as a three-year-old to win the Coolmore Stud Stakes on Derby Day.

A true turf hero having won over $3.6 million in prize money, Sepoy was the deserved odds-on favourite in the Luxbet markets for the Coolmore jumping as the $1.30 top elect in the 10-horse field.

Continuing the good luck for the Derby Day punters, Sepoy was the third odds-on favourite to salute in the opening four races following the win by their up-and-coming stablemate Galah in the first and Crown Oaks-bound Atlantic Jewel maintaining her flawless record in the Wakeful Stakes.

While there were queries about whether Sepoy was as brilliant down the Flemington straight, he showed that he was capable of not only blistering wins by big margins, but gritty victories hanging onto a lead with a fast finishing chaser in Foxwedge.

Sepoy and race jockey Kerrin McEvoy jumped away very well as did Unique Quality and Clarry Conners’ honest filly Satin Shoes.

It was Satin Shoes who went to the lead, Foxwedge tracking up on the outside while Masthead was ridden cold back last of all.

The favourite started their run with around 300 metres to go, Sepoy grabbing Satin Shoes and hitting the lead by the 200 metres before pulling away.

Originally it looked as though Sepoy would put two lengths on his rivals in the Coolmore, but the John O’Shea-trained Foxwedge came up hard and fast on the outside with a brave challenge.

Running the race of their life Foxwedge gave it their all, but Sepoy hung on to win by a neck.

In a photo for third a further two lengths away Satin Shoes was found to have finished off the winning Coolmore Stud Stakes trifecta.

If there were two more strides in the feature there would have been a massive Derby Day upset.

“You get a little bit nervous…he’s just been winning so well,” McEvoy said after the race.

“He’s been fantastically well handled the whole way through.

“He’s got a fantastic record now.

“It’d be nice to see him in Australia for a couple of runs in the autumn before he heads overseas.”

Sepoy wasn’t as dominant today, showing that he was definitely coming towards the end of his preparation, and while he didn’t display his usual acceleration he did show the greatness of a champion racehorse digging deep to hold on for the win, something Snowden was quick to credit.

“With Sepoy the margin issue isn’t that big,” Snowden said.

“He’s a great horse, he’s been up a long time and although the margin was small the effort was huge.”

The Coolmore Stud Stakes was Sepoy’s spring grand final, Snowden saying they would not be pressing onto next Saturday’s $1 million Group 1 Patinack Farm Classic (1200m) on the final day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival where Australia’s sprint queen Black Caviar vies for her 16th straight career success.

“He’s got a lot of maturing to do,” Snowden said.

“He’s just not physically or mentally ready to take on a champion (like Black Caviar) but one day he will be.”

After going to the paddock for a well-earned rest Sepoy will be bought back for the autumn with the plan being to head to England for the Royal Ascot Carnival in the winter.

“We’ll plan a campaign over there during the June Cup Carnival at Ascot…and just showcase Australian racing and himself,” Snowden said.

Punters that placed their Coolmore Stud Stakes exotic bets at Luxbet and were successful saw Best Tote Exotics payouts plus a 5% Bonus, with no cap on their winnings!

This exclusive offer is available for every Flemington race today, so get in on the action at Luxbet now!

Moonee Valley Racecourse was home to 2011 Cox Plate Dayon Saturday, October 22, and below punters and racing fans will find the full Moonee Valley race results, including the top three placegetters in every race, for of the nine events that lit up the course.

2011 Cox Plate Winner Pinker Pinker

As expected in Cox Plate Day Race 5 superstar mare Black Caviar claimed her 15th consecutive career victory, winning back-to-back editions of the $300,000 Group 2 Schweppes Stakes (1200m).

It was an as predicted effortless win from the unbeaten queen, Black Caviar now onto the $1 million Group 1 Patinack Farm Classic (1200m) at Flemington on Emirates Stakes Day before heading to Perth for a shot at the $500,000 Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes (1200m) at Ascot on November 19.

Another odds-on favourite that saluted for the Luxbet punters was Manawanui in the fourth, the Golden Rose winner taking out the $200,000 Mitchelton Wines Vase (2040m) and confirming their favouritism for next Saturday’s 2011 Victoria Derby at Flemington.

The marquee race of the meet was of course Race 8 – the $3 million Group 1 Tatts Cox Plate (2040m) – which was won in an upset by Greg Eurell’s classy mare Pinker Pinker.

The Cox Plate success capped off a sensational seven days for jockey Craig Williams who won last weekend’s Caulfield Cup with Southern Speed as well as the Geelong Cup mid-week with Melbourne Cup-bound French raider Dunaden.

Pinker Pinker had too much late speed for in-form Kiwi Jimmy Choux, who finished second, while the Jim Conlan-trained Rekindled Interest finished off the winning Cox Plate Trifecta for 2011.

Race 1 – Microflite Helecopters Inglis Banner (1000m)

1st: #11 Diamond Earth

2nd: #14 Lamingtons

3rd: #8 Swipeline

4th: #4 Rise To The Top

Winning Time: 1:0.42

Winning Margin: 0.2L

Race Review: Race track experience, the addition of blinkers and a trip the Valley earlier this week proved the winning combination for the Anthony Cummings-trained Diamond Earth who was too fast in the end for runner-up Lamington in the first. Race favourite Swipeline just missed the kick and did terrifically to get up for third. Was an obvious first four result and a nice start to the day for Luxbet punters.

Race 2 – Essendon Jeep Stakes (1600m)

1st: #7 Torah

2nd: #1 Bliss Street

3rd: #4 Classic Elle

4th: #4 Flame Of Lanka

Winning Time: 1:37.08

Winning Margin: 1.3L

Race Review: Given a sweet run just off the pace by jockey Luke Nolen, the Peter Moody-trained filly Torah was able to post her first career win from seven starts. The track, tempo and race pattern all went in the winner’s favour today and she held on to win by a length and a quarter of a fast finishing Bliss Street who may be a danger over more distance.

Race 3 – 1300 Australia Stakes (1200m)

1st: #8 Karuta Queen

2nd: #2 Miss Stellabelle

3rd: #1 Amah Rock

4th: #5 Most Husbands

Winning Time: 1:10.60

Winning Margin: 2.8L

Race Review: With no Black Caviar in her way today there was simply no stopping Canberra filly Karuta Queen. She was the classiest in the field and showed that with her blistering three length success. Right from the start the Luxbet favourite looked the winner, Karuta Queen jumping away beautifully before blitzing her rivals. The rest just couldn’t match it with the flying Sydney filly, Karuta Queen winning in a slick time of 1:10.60 and it’s now onto Flemington.

Race 4 – Mitchelton Wines Vase (2040m)

1st: #1 Manawanui

2nd: #2 Collar

3rd: #3 Scelto

4th: #4 I Feel Good

Winning Time: 2:7.14

Winning Margin: 2.5L

Race Review: It’s onto the Victoria Derby in seven days’ time for Ron Leemon’s impressive Vase winner Manawanui. Settled back off the pace, today Golden Rose winner and Caulfield Guineas runner-up Manawanui was given a quiet ride by Glyn Schofield and showed their potential to develop into a genuine Group 1 stayer. Collar’s run for second was brave, but they were no match for the winner who pulled away with ease and looked to be wanting even more distance – a great sign going into the Derby making them a great Vic Derby bet at Luxbet.

Race 5 – Schweppes Stakes (1400m)

1st: #5 Black Caviar

2nd: #3 Doubtful Jack

3rd: #2 Here De Angels

4th: #1 Scenic Blast

Winning Time: 1:10.13

Winning Margin: 6.0L

Race Review: She is the queen. There is no denying her talent and there is no stopping her winning streak, Black Caviar posting an incredible six length win over an inferior field for her 15th on the trot. Coming from one and a half behind stablemate Doubtful Jack to five plus in front, it was effortless, easy work for the superstar here. The Schweppes Stakes played out just like it looked like it would on paper and it is now onto the Patinack and then Perth for Black Caviar.

Race 6 – Drake International Cup (2500m)

1st: # 1 Americain

2nd: #4 Tullamore

3rd: #6 Illo

4th: #10 Anudjawun

Winning Time: 2:36.41

Winning Margin: 2.3L

Race Review: In the perfect 2011 Melbourne Cup lead-up, defending winner Americain showed they were back to their best blowing away their rivals in the Moonee Valley Gold Cup. After having a little bit of trouble on the tight Moonee Valley turn, once in the clear there was no stopping this champion French galloper, Americain confirming their favouritisim to go back-to-back in the world’s richest. Tullamore was gallant in another placing following their third in the Caulfield Cup, but they need about 10 horses above them in the order of entry for the big one to gain a start. Brilliant first Australian run by Bart Cummings’ German import Illo for third here – will also tighten in Melbourne Cup markets at Luxbet.

Race 7 – Drummond Gold Crystal Mile (1600m)

1st: #9 Testa My Patience

2nd: #5 Hawks Bay

3rd: #12 He’s Remarkable

4th: #11 Happy Trails

Winning Time: 1:36.74

Winning Margin: 1.5L

Race Review: Continuing the winning run for the punters on Cox Plate Day, race favourite Testa My Patience travelled beautifully over the mile, pulling away over the final stages after coming from three wide on the turn to win in an excellent trial for the Group 1 Emirates Stakes at Flemington in two weeks time.

Race 8 – Tatts Cox Plate (2040m)

1st: #11 Pinker Pinker

2nd: #5 Jimmy Choux

3rd: #9 Rekindled Interest

4th: #3 Wall Street

Winning Time: 2:5.39

Winning Margin: 1.3L

Race 9 – Trojan Hand Tools Stakes (1600m)

1st: #7 Ocean Challenger

2nd: #6 Hi Belle

3rd: #1 Lady Lynette

4th: #4 Raspberries

Trainer Peter Moody has revealed that his superstar mare Black Caviar will target both the 2011 Patinack Farm Classic and the 2011 Winterbottom Stakes in Perth this spring following her brilliant Schweppes Stakes 2011 victory today.

Black Caviar made it 15 wins in a row when she took out the 2011 Schweppes Stakes with ease ahead of Doubtful Jack and Here De Angels.

The five-year-old mare was always scheduled to take her place up the Flemington straight in the Group 1 Patinack Farm Classic, however, the public had up until now been left in the dark when it came to the Winterbottom Stakes.

The Winterbottom Stakes will take place as part of the Festival of Perth Racing on November 19, 2011.

Peter Moody confirmed his plans to travel Black Caviar to Perth following today’s Schweppes Stakes win.

“Perth’s very much in the picture.
