We picked it as one of the most even races in Emirates Stakes history and that’s exactly what happened with Albert The Fat winning the 2011 title in a photo.

The ex Queensland based runner has only been with the Waller stables for this preparation but in true Waller style he’s turned him into a Group 1 champion.

He was switched off towards the back of the field in the early stages while the pace was well and truly turned on in front.

At least four horses looked for the lead at some point in the race meaning the tempo was hot and they all had their chance.

Off the bend Albert The Fat was one of the wider runners with Love Conquers All among those that had pushed forward early.

It was soon clear though they’d done too much and it was King’s Rose that came through and hit the front.

She was running strongly as well and it was going to take a big run to reel her in.

That came from Albert The Fat which only got there in the final stride in a perfect ride from Mark Zahra.

Secret Admirer also found a run up the inside late but it wasn’t enough to take victory away from Chris Waller and Albert the Fat.

Zahra agrees that form his perspective once King’s Rose went through she was going to be super hard to catch.

“We had a nice enough run, Kings Rose shot through like it was going to win but Chris Waller’s got this horse going great,” he said.

Albert The Fat actually finished 12th in this race last year so it’s been a massive 12 month turnaround.

“I rode this horse in the race last year and probably didn’t t get the best of rides, big ups to Chris Waller and the owners for giving me another go,” he said.

No tears from Waller today but certainly a big acknowledgement of what he’s managed to achieve.

“It’s certainly a thrill to be part of this big day and the big carnival,” he said.

“Full credit to Mark, he only picked the ride up yesterday so didn’t have much time to do any homework or get a feel for the horse.”

Albert The Fat has been showing plenty of promise this preparation and there was plenty of belief he was going to be a big player here.

“Each of his runs have been good, only one average run in Sydney,” Waller said.

“All he had to do was get to 1600m.”

There’s a bit of confidence around he could even do this again as he seems a rejuvenated horse since making the trip south.

“He’s a seven year old but you wouldn’t know it,” Waller said.

Albert The Fat paid a huge $19.10 at Luxbet while King’s Rose and Secret Admirer were $3.30 and $2.70 a piece.

It’s yet another example of how much you can win off Luxbet and shows how much your $100 free bet could earn you.

If you’d put your free bet on Albert The Fat here it would have been $1900 coming back into your account!

Secret Admirer was far from the worst run in the 2011 Cox Plate, in fact the mare ran on very well to finish in fifth spot not too far away from the money.

She comes into the 2011 Emirates Stakes today as a horse that has to be given a big hope, especially getting back to a more open track that should suit her racing pattern.

She’s also back to the mile, a distance she’s won at twice from two attempts.

Secret Admirer looks perfectly positioned for the 2011 Emirates Stakes

It all bodes well for a horse that seems to be consistently under estimated, despite possessing such a consistent record.

In fact from just nine career starts she’s won three of them and placed a further four times.

The only times she hasn’t been in the top two were when fifth in the Cox Plate and fourth in the Shannon Stakes.

Based on that she has to be a huge hope in the 2011 Emirates Stakes in a field that looks like one of the closest ever.

She’s well weighted with only 54kg and should get the gun run from barrier four.

This is why she’s been so well supported in the market opening at $6.50 at Luxbet making her second favourite.

Since then she’s come in a further half a point as well making her a real punters special.

If you want to back Secret Admirer in the 2011 Emirates Stakes get on now with the bookie that gives you more.

At Luxbet right now new members can score a $100 free bet for just $25!

It’s the final day of the 2011 Melbourne Cup Carnival with Emirates Stakes Day rounding off what has been a wonderful four days of racing at Flemington racecourse.

There’s still plenty more to look forward to on the Emirates Stakes Day program with nine events featuring a broad range of horses across very different races.

Black Caviar is back to steal the show on Emirates Stakes Day

The day starts with a 1000m sprint featuring two years olds, many of which are having just their first race start.

The card will progress through to showcase Black Caviar in the 2011 Patinack Farm Classic before the main event Emirates Stakes.

There are huge number of horses with a winning chance here today and with the exception of Black Caviar in the Patinack Farm Classic, nearly every race appears to be incredibly tight.

That means there’s plenty of value across the board, especially with our Emirates Stakes Day Tips so why not bet now with Luxbet.

2011 Emirates Stakes Day Tips

Race 1 – 11:30AM Hong Kong Jockey Club Maribyrnong Plate (1000 METRES)

1st – Rappers Delight $7.50 @ Luxbet

2nd – Magnusificent $4.60 @ Luxbet

3rd – Ptolemy $19 @ Luxbet

Rappers Delight as the experience on the board that’s just that little bit better than Magnusificent with Ptolemy a market mover at big odds.

Race 2 – 12:10PM Visit Victoria Handicap (1600 METRES)

1st – Eraset $4.80 @ Luxbet

2nd – He’s Remarkable $3.90 @ Luxbet

3rd – Happy Trails $8.00 @ Luxbet

All three of these are almost equal but Eraset looks to be building in front of He’s remarkable who has the draw from Happy Trails.

Race 3 – 12:50PM Antler Luggage Handicap (2000 METRES)

1st – Texan Warney $10 @ Luxbet

2nd – Count Encosta $8.00 @ Luxbet

3rd – The Black Oak $9.50 @ Luxbet

Texan Warney is as consistent as any ahead of Count Encosta who has class on his day with The Black Oak setting a lightning pace out front.

Race 4 – 1:30PM Hilton Hotels Stakes (1400 METRES)

1st – Mental $5.50 @ Luxbet

2nd – Amah Rock $7.00 @ Luxbet

3rd – Mahisara $5.00 @ Luxbet

Mental is three from three this prep which trumps Amah Rock which ran third last start and Mahisara which was third first up.

This Saturday the headline race running on the final Melbourne Cup Carnival raceday is the Emirates Stakes 2011, and below the Races.com.au team have made our insider tips on the prestigious mile showdown public knowledge.

Races.com.au are tipping Wall Street to win their second Emirates Stakes in 2011

Running at 3:00pm (AEDT) as Flemington Race 6, one event after the mighty mare Black Caviar vies for her 16th straight turf triumph in the Patinack Farm Classic, the $1 million Group 1 Emirates Stakes (1600m) sees a capacity field of gallopers face off.

Leading the Emirates Stakes odds at a quote of $5.50 at Luxbet is savvy Kiwi galloper Jimmy Choux coming off a brave second place finish in the Cox Plate.

Money is also about for two class mares in the Emirates Stakes markets with the Peter Moody-trained King’s Rose at $6.50 and recent Epsom Handicap conqueror Secret Admirer an easing $7 third favourite.

While two punters’ picks have saluted in the past four Emirates Stakes, most recently Wall Street who is back to defend his title from last year, this race has historically been a nice one for upsets.

With that in mind the Races.com.au team had a close look at the 2011 Emirates Stakes field, form guide and betting history to make our trifecta selections on the Flemington feature to lock in at our preferred online bookmaker Luxbet.

The Races.com.au Emirates Stakes Trifecta Tip is #1 Wall Street from #2 Jimmy Choux and #3 King’s Rose – Lock it in now at Luxbet!
Join to bet now

2011 Emirates Stakes Tips

Flemington Race 6 Betting – 05/11/2011

1st: #2 Wall Street

$13 to Win at Luxbet

Back-to-back winners don’t happen often in the Emirates Stakes but the Races.com.au team have Wall Street rated special to do just that on Saturday.

If the ground gets too firm at Flemington Jeff Lynds’ New Zealand visitor won’t like it, but he can handle it with good form up to a Good (3).

Out to become the first successive winner since Seascay in 1994-95. Pays a nice price for it too considering they meet the favourite Jimmy Choux 2kg better in the weights and they have a good barrier two draw.

Bowman rides again for the first time since their Emirates success last year, Wall Street coming off a close Cox Plate fourth carrying 59kg (drop to 56kg).

Last year they ran seventh in the Cox Plate before the Emirates, leading one to believe they are in better form, and are one of only two horses with a win at the track and distance up their sleeve.

2nd: #1 Jimmy Choux

$5.50 to Win at Luxbet

Jimmy Choux is the favourite and with plenty of facts and stats stacking up in their favour we can see why.

Have the best mile record of any horse here with four wins from five starts so will relish coming back to the 1600m after the Cox Plate. They also boast the highest win rate of the field with 54.55% and a very nice 86.36% place rate.

They are the right age as a four-year-old and have never run a bad race, but with 58kg and from barrier 13 we think they may just get nudged out of the win here.

3rd: #11 King’s Rose

$6.50 to Win at Luxbet

Could be a super day for Moody bagging two Group 1’s with two top mares if King’s Rose gets up and claims an upset.

There is plenty in her form line to suggest she can and she has been one of the most consistent of this group all season with back to back Group 2 wins before her close Toorak second and last-start Cox Plate seventh.

Back to the mile King’s Rose will be back to her best.

She has a 50% overall strike rate and an even better one at the distances with a trio of wins and one second from four starts.

Lot’s to like, especially at 53kg, and if she gets a good run up on the inside of Jimmy Choux she will be competitive right until the finish.

Roughie Selections: #16 Red Tracer, #17 Largo Lad

Red Tracer at $16 through Luxbet makes an ideal exotics inclusion. Chris Waller’s galloper gets in at just 52kg and the only thing not to like is the wide draw 19 (goes into 16 with emergencies out). Has a 50% win rate, one of the best in this field, and has yet to finish out of the money with a 100% place rate – we rate that!

Not rough enough? Try Largo Lad at $51 to win at Luxbet. Others have as this galloper comes in from their opening odds of $61. Need a scratching to get into the field (maybe Yosei), and if they get in they are a genuine place chance. Drawn in barrier seven which is perfect and is the only other horse aside from the defending champ to have won at the track and distance.

To lock in our Emirates Stakes tips, or your own, at the guaranteed best prices in the country head to Luxbet now, and if you are new to deposit and quote with Australia’s ace online bookie Luxbet make sure you quote the promo code BONUSBET to get your $500 bonus bet!

Luxbet are also offering for the last time this spring Best Tote Exotics + 5% Bonuses on every Flemington race this Saturday, so don’t put your exotic bets on anywhere else!

The 2011 Patinack Farm Classic is one of two Group 1 showdowns bringing the Melbourne Cup Carnival to a close at Flemington this Saturday, and while Black Caviar will win, the question then becomes which two horses will get closest to the undefeated queen and finish off the Patinack Farm Classic Trifecta.

The Races.com.au team are tipping Buffering to run third in the 2011 Patinack Farm Classic on Saturday

Having studied the Patinack Farm Classic Field and Form Guide, the Races.com.au team have also had a look back over the historical stats and had a look at the race replays of Black Caviar’s rivals in their last starts to help us make our two-three selections for the $1 million sprint.

Below are our exclusive Patinack Farm Classic tips, as well as our roughie selection, because we always love to throw a sneaky dollar on an underdog through Luxbet.

The Races.com.au Patinack Farm Classic Trifecta Tip is #3 Black Caviar from #5 Mid Summer Music and #2 Buffering – Lock it in now at Luxbet!
Join to bet now

2011 Patinack Farm Classic Tips

Flemington Race 5 Betting – 05/11/2011

1st: #3 Black Caviar

$1.05 to Win at Luxbet

She is the mare that needs no introduction and really, we don’t have to spell out all the reasons why Black Caviar has this one in the bag and why she will go back-to-back in the Patinack soaring to her 16th consecutive career victory.

Saturday could possibly be the last start at Flemington for Moody’s ace asset, so don’t miss out on your chance to back the best at a price that may be short but that is still better than bank interest at Luxbet!

She is 15 from 15, faces an inferior field of just six rivals, is five from five at Flemington, 11 form 11 at the distance, and she is a superstar.

2nd: #5 Mid Summer Music

$26 to Win at Luxbet

Huge gap in the Patinack Farm Classic odds from first elect to second, and deservedly so. But we are sticking with the bookies with this one and are tipping Moody to secure the Patinack Farm Classic Exacta with smart six-year-old Mid Summer Music.

She comes off a sixth to Sister Madly in the Group 2 Salinger Stakes (1200m), a better effort than it looks considering she jumped from double digits and was only beaten one and a quarter lengths.

Ben Melham, who replaced the suspended Luke Nolen to ride Black Caviar to victory in this 12 months ago, gets the ride.

Mid Summer Music also boasts the second highest win rate behind her glamour stablemate with 52.95% and the 1200 metres is her pet distance, she has won five from nine over it and run second once.

3rd: #2 Buffering

$31 to Win at Luxbet

Was a real toss up for us here whether to keep following the Patinack Farm Classic betting markets and go with the third elect to run third, or go out on a limb and say the trifecta belongs to Moody with #6 Curtana ($51) to fill the final place.

In the end we went with our instinct which said Buffering, Rob Heathcote is firing with Woorim winning on Derby Day and lining up in the Emirates Stakes on Saturday, so cheers to the Queenslander!

Buffering won the Group 3 Mitty’s McEwen Stakes (1000m) first-up for the season before his fourth to Sepoy in the Manikato.

Last start was admittedly a little disappointing when he was beaten seven lengths running sixth to Sepoy in the Caulfield Sprint, but back up to 1200 metres – which he has won four and placed twice in four of his 12 starts over – he should be a little more competitive.

Has a solid strike rate of 42.11% and has run third to Black Caviar before in the BTC Cup at Doomben back in May.

Roughie Pick: #6 Curtana

$51 to Win at Luxbet

As we said before, it was a tough call for us not to include Curtana in the Patinack Farm Trifecta, so we will definitely have a separate Place bet on her through Luxbet just in case!

She is drawn in three where she is set to get a nice run on the inside of Black Caviar, has twice won over the distance, has form at the Track and distance making her a good pick down the straight – forgiving her failure last-start in the Salinger.

So there you have it! The Patinack Farm Classic First Four quandary solved.

Whether it is our Patinack Farm Classic tips or your own you are keen to lock in, you will find the hottest odds on the race at Luxbet.

So head to Luxbet now and check out all of their Emirates Stakes Day odds and specials, and if you are a first-time depositing customer remember to quote the exclusive promo BONUSBET to get up to $500 as a bonus bet!

Scheduled to jump at 3:00pm (AEDT) as Flemington Race 6, the $1 million Group 1 Emirates Stakes (1600m) is shaping up as an intriguing showdown with the Cox Plate looking to be the form race to go by.

Jimmy Choux vies for their sixth Group 1 title in the 2011 Emirates Stakes on Saturday

Coming via the Cox Plate are Jimmy Choux (2nd), Wall Street (4th), Secret Admirer (5th) and King’s Rose (7th), and each one is a genuine Emirates Stakes 2011 chance coming back to the mile.

Currently it is the John Bary-trained Kiwi champ Jimmy Choux at the top of the Emirates Stakes odds at Luxbet, the 58kg topweight vying for his sixth career Group 1 and paying $5.50 to salute.

Jimmy Choux is followed in the Emirates Stakes betting markets at Luxbet by Peter Moody’s former New Zealander King’s Rose ($6.50) and Epsom Handicap winner Secret Admirer ($6.50).

The in-form Love Conquers All is the other single-figure chance paying $9, while defending Emirates Stakes winner Wall Street pays $12 to go back-to-back in the million dollar feature.

This is what the Emirates Stakes markets say, but what does the historical data and form guide on this great race reveal?

Having gone over the full 2011 Emirates Stakes field and form guide, and analysed the winning trends and betting stats, the Races.com.au team below have the need-to-know facts for punters looking to clean up at Luxbet!

Barrier nine this year belongs to #4 Love Conquers All ($9 Luxbet)

Jimmy Choux is the punters favourite for the 2011 Emirates Stakes in one of the most even looking fields assembled all carnival.

You can guarantee there will be money for all 16 horses in the 2011 Emirates Stakes final field with good form and good overall records brought in by just about every horse.

Jimmy Choux an uneasy favourite in the 2011 Emirates Stakes

That makes the job for Jimmy Choux a lot tougher given jockey Jonathan Riddell will have no idea where his main dangers lie. Jimmy Choux comes into the race after running second in the 2011 Cox Plate behind Pinker Pinker.

He hit the lead at the top of the straight but was overrun in the final 100m to lose his first race after posting a two event winning streak this spring.

Connections will be looking for a consolation prize in the 2011 Emirates stakes but they have their work cut out for them.

Jimmy Choux is the top weight of the race, he’ll carry 58kg, a full two kilograms more than any other horse.

He’ll also have to deal with barrier 13 meaning he’s likely to settle towards the tail of the field.

In addition to that he’s second up in Australia, something he struggled with over the autumn.

Finally he’s also dropping back in trip from the 2040m of the Cox Plate to a mile.

Last time Jimmy Choux was second up was in the 2011 AJC Derby where he was hot favourite but fell out to finish sixth.

There’s a case that this was caused by being second up in Australia but it could also have been due to him not running out the 2400m trip.

The marquee race at Flemington this Saturday is the Emirates Stakes 2011, the famous mile showdown shaping up as a wide open affair with five gallopers installed at single-figures to win.

Emirates Stakes Day is the perfect opportunity for punters to use their $500 bonus bet from Luxbet!

Jimmy Choux is the narrow 2011 Emirates Stakes favourite for Saturday

A capacity field of 16 starters plus four emergencies are engaged for the $1 million Group 1 Emirates Stakes (1600m) this year, which runs as Flemington Race 6 at 3:00pm (AEDT) on Saturday.

Currently sitting at the top of the Emirates Stakes odds at Luxbet is in-form New Zealander Jimmy Choux, the multiple Group 1 hero paying $5.50.

Jimmy Choux has been in terrific form this season racing in three elite levels back home, winning two of the three, before their game second to Pinker Pinker in the Cox Plate last start.

With winning form over the mile and suited to any track conditions from a Heavy (10) to Good (3), Jimmy Choux is the definite form horse to back.

Considered their biggest danger is another runner hailing from New Zealand, the now Peter Moody-trained King’s Rose who pays $6 through Luxbet to become this year’s Emirates Stakes winner.

King’s Rose is another horse exceptionally suited to the mile.

While her last-start seventh in the Cox Plate was not as good as Jimmy Choux’s effort, back to the 1600 metres this Redoute’s Choice four-year-old should also be back to her best.

Jumps one inside the favourite from barrier 12 with Luke Nolen engaged for the ride, and meets Jimmy Choux 5kg better in the weights with King’s Rose on 53kg, her lightest allocation from four starts in Australia.

Three other runners are under double-figures in the Luxbet Emirates Stakes markets with Secret Admirer ($6.50), last-start Caulfield Cup Day winner Love Conquers All ($8.50) and Testa My Patience ($9.50) who comes off a win in the Crystal Mile on Cox Plate Day.

Dubwai mare Secret Admirer is another galloper coming via the Cox Plate, Grahame Begg’s consistent four-year-old having finished just under two lengths from the winner when fifth.

Prior to the Cox Plate Secret Admirer scored a nice win over Cox Plate winner Pinker Pinker in the Group 1 Epsom Handicap over the Randwick mile, and she could be the upset horse to get behind for the Emirates this weekend.

“We were delighted with her run in that (the Cox Plate),” Begg said.

“She seemed to come through very well, so well that we thought let’s target the Emirates.

Secret Admirer faces a tough test with 54kg on Saturday, the heaviest weighted of the mares.

She is prepared by the right trainer, however, to achieve Emirates Stakes success as the last horse to carry more than 51.5kg since Wenona Girl carted an incredible 58.5kg to victory back in 1963 was Begg’s 1999 Emirates Stakes winner Bonanova with 54.5kg.

Begg also enjoyed an Emirates Stakes victory three years ago with All Silent in 2008.

Other notable 2011 Emirates Stakes contenders and their prices include defending hero Wall Street ($12) who needs a bit of give in the ground to be at their best and Rob Heathcote’s Derby Day winner Woorim ($12) who will also be unsuited should Flemington be too firm on Saturday.

See below for the latest Emirates Stakes fixed win odds that punters can lock in now at Luxbet.

If you have an inkling over a horse to win the Emirates Stakes but are wary they may get beaten into second, Luxbet have you covered with their exclusive $250 2nd Place Refund Bonus.

Back any horse to win either the Emirates Stakes or the Patinack Farm Classic on Saturday and if they are second over the line Luxbet will refund you with a Bonus Bet up to $250!

One of the top fancies to win the 2011 Emirates Stakes on the final Flemington Melbourne Cup Carnival meeting this Saturday, John Bary’s gun Kiwi galloper Jimmy Choux has both the 58kg top weight and now an awkward barrier 13 draw to overcome if they are to add a sixth Group 1 title to their record.

The Thorn Park four-year-old, who has won five Group 1 races back home in New Zealand as well as Australia’s Rosehill Guineas in the autumn, is one of the capacity number of acceptors for the $1 million Group 1 Emirates Stakes (1600m) this year.

Cox Plate runner-up Jimmy Choux shoots for their sixth Group 1 win in the 2011 Emirates Stakes on Saturday

Of the 16 starters and four emergencies engaged in the Emirates Stakes 2011 field, Jimmy Choux will wear the No. 1 saddlecloth.

“He’s rated on 118 points, which is the highest in the field and has won two Group 1 races on his way through so I’m quite happy that we didn’t get more (weight),” Bary said of Jimmy Choux who had a lovely gallop in Melbourne on Tuesday.

Last seen running a very brave second in the Cox Plate to upset winner Pinker Pinker, Bary is hoping the ‘Choux’ can salute in one more thoroughbred major before heading to the paddock back home for a well-earned rest.

Another Kiwi visitor racing in this year’s Emirates is defending champion Wall Street, Jeff Lynds‘ always consistent seven-year-old coming off three straight fourth place finishes at Group 1 level, most recently in the Cox Plate.

Back to the mile they look very competitive, Wall Street to jump from gate two with Hugh Bowman to ride at 56kg.

It is a truly star-studded Emirates Stakes field set to line-up on Saturday which includes four last-start winners with Love Conquers All (Group 3 Betfair Stakes, 1400m, Caulfield, 15/10/2011), Brisbane raider Woorim (Group 3 tab.com.au Stakes, 1400m, Flemington, 29/10/2011), veteran eight-year-old Pinnacles (Sale Cup, 1600m, Sale, 23/10/2011) and the Mick Price-trained Testa My Patience who earned their shot at Emirates Stakes glory with an upset win in the Group 2 Crystal Mile (1600m) at Moonee Valley on Cox Plate Day.

Four mares will also strut their stuff against the boys in the Emirates this year, the top fancy of which is Dubawi four-year-old Secret Admirer.

Grahame Begg’s recent Epsom Handicap winner enjoyed a nice early advantage coming up trumps with gate four as she races for the first time since her fast finishing fifth in the Cox Plate.

Two of the other females in the field are Peter Moody’s former New Zealander King’s Rose, a winner of two of her four starts in Australia, and triple Group 1 champion Yosei who has had a few recent injury setbacks.

Other notable 2011 Emirates Stakes acceptors include the Chris Waller-trained trio of Danleigh, Albert The Fat and Red Tracer, the fourth mare in the field who ran third in the Epsom last-start.

Below is the full Emirates Stakes final field, barrier draw, jockeys, weights and emergencies for Saturday’s showdown.

Jeff Lynds‘ consistent Kiwi visitor and defending champion Wall Street is one of the drawcard entries for the 2011 Emirates Stakes, nominations for one of two final elite levels of the Melbourne Cup Carnival taken by Racing Victoria on Monday.

Don't miss out on your $500 spring bonus bet - join Luxbet now and quote the promo code BONUSBET when making your first deposit!

The headline race of Emirates Stakes Day at the famous Flemington Racecourse on Saturday November 5, the $1 million Group 1 Emirates Stakes (1600m) attracted a star-studded list of 35 nominees.

Wall Street is back to defend their Emirates Stakes title in 2011

While Wall Street hasn’t seen the inside of a winners’ stall since their Emirates Stakes upset 12 months ago, the now seven-year-old has been in excellent form since arriving in Australia again in early October.

After finishing three lengths away fourth to fellow New Zealander King Mufhasa in the Toorak Handicap over the mile at Caulfield on October 8, Wall Street produced the eye-catching run of the Cox Plate to come from the back of the field and finish less than two lengths away fourth to winner Pinker Pinker.

Last year before their Emirates Stakes success Wall Street ran seventh in the Cox Plate, and they look on track for a gallant title defense on Saturday having recovered from the minor bout of colic that saw them scratched from last Saturday’s Mackinnon Stakes.

Cox Plate runner-up Jimmy Choux, another gun Kiwi galloper, has also been nominated for the Emirates Stakes 2011.

The John Bary-trained Thorn Park four-year-old is looking to add a sixth elite level to their incredibly impressive record, their second in Australia after winning the Rosehill Guineas in the autumn.

One horse fresh off a Victoria Derby Day victory has been entered in an attempt to win on successive Saturdays at Flemington with the Robert Heathcote-trained Woorim.

Woorim upset a quality field of middle-distance gallopers in the Group 3 tab.com.au Stakes (1400m) on Derby Day overcoming the extreme outside barrier (15 of 15) to put two lengths on runner-up Thankgodyou’rehere when ridden by Michael Rodd who retains the ride in the Emirates.

Other Notable 2011 Emirates Stakes Nominations Include:

Secret Admirer (Grahame Begg) – Bypassed a Derby Day run to go straight into this off the back of her Cox Plate fifth, will be ridden by Brenton Avdulla with the Dubawi mare looking for a spring Group 1 double following her Epsom Handicap victory

Love Conquers All (Michael, Wayne & John Hawkes) – Mossman stallion has been racing consistently this spring with two Group wins, most recently in the Group 3 Betfair Stakes at Caulfield over 1400m on Caulfield Cup Day, second in the Doncaster Mile back in April which has been their only run over 1600m to date

Toorak Toff (Rick Hore-Lacy) – Recent Group 1 winner of the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes, last seen running third to Woorim in on Derby Day with 59kg, three previous mile runs have been disappointing but connections giving it another crack

King’s Rose (Peter Moody) – One of the spruik spring mares in raging form until the Cox Plate, won back-to-back Group 2 races for her opening two starts in Australia then finished a close second in the Toorak, Cox Plate seventh was game and she will appreciate coming back to the mile

Testa My Patience (Mick Price) – Progressive miler stole the show in the Group 2 Crystal Mile (1600m) on Cox Plate Day at the Valley, has decent Flemington form with two seconds from two starts at the track

The Emirates Stakes is one of two Group 1 races on the final Melbourne Cup Carnival meeting, the other being the highly-anticipated $1 million Patinack Farm Classic (1200m) where sprint queen Black Caviar shoots for her 16th straight success.

Final fields for all of the Emirates Stakes Day races will be released on Wednesday and published right here at Races.com.au.
