The final field and barrier draw has been released for the 2012 Blue Diamond Preview (Fillies) which will take place at Caulfield Racecourse this Thursday January 26, 2012.

12 horses have accepted for a run in the race, including Anthony Freedom’s Sabie.

Sabie has won both her previous race starts, with her most recent win being at Moonee Valley Racecourse on January 13, 2012.

The Exceed And Excel filly has more than $25,000 in prize money across her first two career runs.

Sabie has drawn barrier 11 for the 2012 Blue Diamond Preview and will be ridden by jockey Kerrin McEvoy.

Robert Smerdon’s Members Joy is also included in the 2012 Blue Diamond Preview final field.

The Hussonet filly won on debut in the $70,000 Swettenham Dash For Cash Plate last start, where she beat her closest rival by 2.5 lengths.

Smerdon believes Members Joy has the talent needed to win the Blue Diamond Series, however, understands it is a tough task.

“She’s certainly got some talent, to my mind, to be successful at black type level but how far that takes her through the Blue Diamond series remains to be seen,” Smerdon said.

“Thursday will give us a good guide whether she is up to them.

“She worked (yesterday) on the steeple grass over a half mile on her own and pinged home really well.”

Members Joy has drawn barrier 10 for the 2012 Blue Diamond Preview (Fillies) and will be ridden by jockey Mark Zahra.

A full field of 16 runners and two emergencies have accepted to be part of the Group 3 Maribyrnong Plate’s final field this Saturday November 5, 2011, at Flemington racecourse.

The 2011 Maribyrnong Plate is due to run as Race 1 on Emirates Stakes Day and scheduled to jump at 11.30am (AEDT).

Included in the 2011 Maribyrnong Plate final field and barrier draw is Tony McEvoy’s Jimando, who won his debut start in the Listed Inglis Debutante Stakes on October 12.

The only two-year-old in the field to have won a race, Jimando has already won $60,000 in prize money.

The Commands colt has drawn barrier seven in the 2011 Maribyrnong Plate and will be ridden by jockey Kerrin McEvoy.

The $50,000 purchase was never expected to run as a two-year-old, however, his trainer could not deny his early ability.

“I never intended to run him as a two-year-old. But he just kept impressing me,” McEvoy said.

“He’s a race-day horse, so that’s a good sign.”

The 1,600 metre Sunline Stakes is a standard weight-for-age race open to mares aged four-years-old and upwards.

This year’s Sunline Stakes has attracted a final field of 15 starters plus one emergency.

Also included in the Sunline Stakes final field is Michael Moroney’s four-year-old mare Platinum Passion.

Warwick Farm’s Chipping Norton Stakes Day, Saturday March 5, 2011, will feature nine quality fillies in the 2011 Surround Stakes field.

The Group 2 Surround Stakes will run as Race 5 at 3.42pm (AEDST) and will be worth a tidy $200,000.

The 2011 Surround Stakes will be run over a distance of 1,400 metres and is open to three-year-old fillies only.

More Strawberries will headline the 2011 Surround Stakes final field

Headlining the talented field of fillies is the multiple Group winning More Strawberries.

More Strawberries has drawn barrier three for the 2011 Surround Stakes and will be ridden by Nash Rawiller.

Gai Waterhouse’s More Strawberries is fresh off a third placing in the Listed Triscay Stakes, where she ran a fantastic race despite being allocated four kilograms more than the majority of the field.

The three-year-old filly won her last race over the 1,400 metres distance and will be second-up in the 2011 Surround Stakes.

Also in the final field is Bart Cumming’s Kim Heaven, who has had only one previous win in a Canterbury maiden.

Kim Heaven will be ridden by regular jockey Hugh Bowman and has drawn barrier one in the 2011 Surround Stakes.

Bart Cumming’s grandson and foreman, James Cummings, said that his grandfather has the utmost confidence in Kim Heaven and believes that despite her lack of experience, she has the ability to tackle the big guns.

“Look at a filly like Secret Admirer, she was able to go from winning a maiden to beating this same group of fillies to win the Group 1 Flight Stakes in her first preparation,” James Cummings said.

“She (Secret Admirer) proves it can be done if you have a horse with the ability. We have always thought a fair bit of (Kim Heaven), she was trained up and ready to race six months ago but Bart decided to give her a little bit more time to mature.”

James Cummings said that the placement of Kim Heaven in this race was as much about timing as it was about ability.

“We brought her back and were able to knock off a maiden first-up but there are no really suitable races for her,” he said.

“Our hands have been tied a little because she is going to have to transform the potential into ability very quickly against the good fillies.”

Peter Snowden’s Parables will also be contesting the 2011 Surround Stakes, after a first-up third place finish in the Light Fingers Stakes on February 12.

Parables has won two of her eight career starts and has never failed to finish in the placings.

The Lonhro filly has drawn barrier seven in the 2011 Surround Stakes and will be ridden by jockey Corey Brown.

Also in the final field is Chris Waller’s Red Tracer, who finished second ahead of Parables in the Light Fingers Stakes, and David Pfieffer’s Gai’s Choice.

The final field and barrier draw has been released for the 2011 Listed Roy Higgins Quality that will run as part of Flemington’s Australian Guineas Day this Saturday March 5, 2011.

The 2600m Roy Higgins Quality will run as race 4 at 2.35pm (AEDST) and will include 16 of our best stayers all vying for a share of the $150,000 prize money on offer.

Included in this year’s final field is Mark Kavanagh’s King Diamond, who has drawn barrier 12 and will be ridden by jockey Michael Rodd in the 2011 Listed Roy Higgins Quality.

King Diamond is in the midst of a very successful third preparation, in which he has won three of his six starts, and only once failed to finish in the placings when he struck interference near the post.
