Victoria Derby Day Fashion Sets Cup Trends

Victoria Derby Day Fashion Sets Cup Trends

The style for this year’s Flemington Racing Carnival will be showcased this Saturday with the main themes of the season being sophistication and class.

Bringing back the cinched waists and broad shoulders of the 1980s, Victoria Derby Day will flaunt plenty of dresses coming in right at the waist and then going back out at the shoulder for a more corporate look.

The style, set by fashions-on-the-field ambassadors Pia and Brad Miller, will also incorporate bold, contrasting colours such as black and white rather than the soft and feminine look which will be seen later on in the carnival.

For men, sharp suits, wide ties and Cuban hats are all in this season and forget matching your outfit to your partner, this season it’s all about complimenting.

Expect to see lots of strong bright colours at the Melbourne Cup while the soft flowing fabrics with pretty pastel colours will be reserved for the Crown Oaks day.

The last day of the carnival is the Emirates Stakes day and this is the time for fashion forward race-goers to have fun with flowing fabrics.

Melbourne Cup Fashion Update

Melbourne Cup Fashion Update

As the Melbourne Cup quickly creeps upon us all, it’s time for all those last-minute people to get organised and get an outfit for the big day.

Before buying anything, all ladies must remember that bold and bright are in.

Think pinks, purples, orange and aqua however there are still some fashionistas sporting last year’s colours of apricot and lime.

Due to the early heat this year, ladies should stick to frocks rather than a suit combo and incorporate patterns and florals into the design.

Although some women will be brave enough to wear shoulder pads, the majority of racing spectators will be seen with pleated dresses and rouched fabrics.

One shoulder dresses are making a comeback this year and can be accessorised with large pieces of jewellery such as cuffs and floral rings and bags.

Keep the headwear delicate this year or wear a headband with some bling and an oversized silk rose.
