Anamoe Slips To Top of 2021 Inglis Sires’ Field & Odds

The talented James Cummings-trained colt Anamoe is tipped to go one better than his lead-up second in the Golden Slipper and bag a Group 1 win of his own off a strong autumn campaign in the 2021 Inglis Sires’ on Saturday in Sydney.

The first of four elite level races run at Royal Randwick for Day 1 of ‘The Championships’, this season’s Group 1 $1 million Inglis ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) features 10 quality two-year-olds.

It is an open market with six of those final acceptors currently under $10 in the Inglis Sires’ odds online at Ladbrokes.com.au with Anamoe the clear favourite at $2.30.

Drawn well in barrier five with James McDonald coming aboard for the coveted ride, the son of Street Boss has had an excellent campaign and is looking to finish on a high.

He boasts two Group 1 placings when third in Melbourne’s Blue Diamond Stakes in February and second last start behind Stay Inside in the Group 1 $3.5 million Golden Slipper Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill on March 27.

The Slipper placing was brave considering the work he did from the outside barrier (15 of 15) and followed on from an earlier Randwick victory in the Group 2 Todman Stakes (1200m).

Back at Randwick in a better barrier going up to 1400m, Anamoe is ticking plenty of boxes as the stable looks for their second win in the event in three years following the 2019 victory by Microphone.

The danger occupying the second line of Inglis Sires’ betting this year at $5 and firming is the John Sargent-trained filly Four Moves Ahead, another Golden Slipper graduate.

The talented daughter of Snitzel won her opening two career starts including the Group 2 Sweet Embrace Stakes here at Randwick before her fourth in the Slipper.

She’s drawn to get a gun run from barrier two on the weekend and is another up-and-comer who looks suited to the 1400m distance of the weekend’s feature.

Jockey Hugh Bowman boasts an outstanding recent record in the ATC Sires’ Produce having ridden four of the past six winners to victory including back-to-back champions in Microphone (2019) and King’s Legacy (2020).

Jockey Hugh Bowman chases his fifth Inglis Sires’ winning ride in seven years on the weekend aboard Tiger Of Malay

The master hoop is aboard another livewire chance in 2021 partnering the Richard & Michael Freedman-trained Extreme Choice colt Tiger Of Malay, the $7 third elect in the latest markets.

Tiger Of Malay races for the first time since his narrow second from a wide barrier (13 of 15) behind Shaquero in Rosehill’s Group 2 Pago Pago Stakes (1200m).

He’s up in both distance and grade this weekend, but looked sharp in a recent three-length winning hit-out in the wet at Randwick and will relish the give in the ground for the Sires’.

There are then three further hopefuls at $8.50 in the markets looking to secure the Group 1 title with Captivant for last year’s winning trainers Peter & Paul Snowden, the airborne Peter Moody-trained Lightsaber chasing a fourth win on the trot and the Hawkes Racing-trained Hilal.
