$7.5 million Golden Eagle Calls for Silver Eagle Winner The Inevitable

Scott Brunton’s tiny Tassie raider The Inevitable may be diminutive in stature but the flying galloper showed he could match it with the bigger four-year-olds once again charging towards the $7.5 million Golden Eagle with a dominant Silver Eagle victory at Randwick.

The little pocket rocket trained out of Seven Mile Beach in the Apple Isle posted his third win on the trot and celebrated his second big interstate success saluting for the punters in the $500,000 Silver Eagle (1300m) on Spring Champion Stakes Day.

Continuing his rise through the ranks, The Inevitable made it eight wins from 10 career starts in his Sydney race debut.

Winner of the summer’s Tasmanian Guineas, the son of Dundeel came into the inaugural Silver Eagle race on the back of four Melbourne runs including a Group 3 CS Hayes victory over Age Of Chivalry back in mid-February.

His last start was a powerful four length victory at The Valley in a Listed 1200m sprint on September 7, the form of which he franked going up to the 1300m in the half-a-million-dollar Silver Eagle.

“He’s done a great job to get the job done. Great ride. There are a lot of people I have got to thank. All the staff at home for putting up with me,” Brunton said post-win.

“I spent the first 12 months of having him in my life whinging about him.

“He’s just a phenomenal racehorse, with a great will to win.

“He’s a great walker, great mover. Just shows you it doesn’t matter what shape or size they come in. If they move right and look well they can run.”

Ridden by Nash Rawiller, the gutsy 420kg up-and-comer sat back in the run as the pacemakers fought it out for the lead chewing up plenty of energy to do so.

In-form mare Mizzy flew out the gates and took up the lead in the early stages before Buffalo River whipped around the outside to lead from the quickly improving Jonker who drew the inside alley.

It was a hot pace as they approached the home turn, Jonker just in front of Buffalo River.

Coming down the outside having conserved energy was The Inevitable who held his own just getting in front to win the Silver Eagle by a neck ahead of Joe Pride’s hulking So You Think mare Fasika.

“He’s a fighter, my word he’s a little tiger. For his size, his stride is twice as long as you expect it to be. He just covers the ground,” winning hoop Rawiller said of The Inevitable.

“He’s a very competitive horse too. He worked himself into a bit of trouble early trying to get on with it.

“Congratulations to Scott and his team for coming up and having a crack. He’s a chance for sure, his heart will take him a long way.”

The Anthony Cummings-trained daughter of Zoustar Mizzy, coming off three straight Group wins in Sydney including the Group 2 Sheraco Stakes – Golden Pendant double, was brave in defeat finishing third after her on-pace run.

“She ran great. She began well and I got my spot in behind the leaders. She travelled great, ran accordingly and is doing a good job this time in,” Mizzy’s hoop Tim Clark said.

The Inevitable is now into $8 (from $17) in pre-field 2019 Golden Eagle betting held over 1500m at Rosehill Racecourse on November 2, the same day as Melbourne’s VRC Derby Day program at Flemington.

“There are some serious race horses next run,” Brunton said.

“I’m very grateful to be there and a part of it if he pulls up well.”

Mizzy remains at $51, while Fasika is in from $26 to $10 in the latest all-in The Golden Eagle odds through Ladbrokes.com.au available here.
