2020 Ramornie Handicap Results: Boilover as Signore Fox Upstages the Favourites
The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Signore Fox caused a boilover at Grafton on Wednesday by taking out the Listed Ramornie Handicap (1200m) at double-figure odds.

The son of Exceed and Excel was paying $20.00 at the jump in the markets at Ladbrokes.com.au coming off a six week freshen up between runs.
Signore Fox was last seen at the races back in May running second-last in the Group 2 Victory Stakes at Eagles Farm, but had since trialed well at Randwick under Wednesday’s winner Jeff Penza.
Penza timed his run beautifully from the soft draw as the pair burst clear down the middle among a wall of horse fighting for the line.
The Ramornie Handicap 2020 result marked Signore Fox’s first win since December 2019 in the Listed Razor Sharp Handicap at Randwick.
“He ran super,” co-trainer Peter Snowden, celebrating his fourth win in the Ramornie and second in partnership with his son Paul following their 2017 success with Calanda, told AAP post-win on Wednesday.
“He’s always shown us that ability, we just couldn’t find any decent tracks.
“Even today, you couldn’t believe it. It was fine all week and then he got up there and it’s rained.
“Any worse than that (Soft 5) and he’s out of play. He’s done a really good job today.”
With rain about, Hightail was backed into favouritism late but found himself caught three-wide at the turn and struggled to make up ground in the late stages.
Haunted ran on well for second paying $2.80 a place from the Godolphin stable, while Jonker was next rounding out the Ramornie Handicap trifecta under a length beaten in third.
