The forecast in Brisbane is for a fine and sunny day and, without any chance of serious rainfall, the current Good (4) Eagle Farm track rating looks set to remain or possibly even be upgraded as the meeting progresses.

Eagle Farm racing gets underway at 11:10am (AEST) and the nine-race card continues through until the Listed Mick Dittman Plate (1000m) for the three-year-old sprinters at 4:15pm (AEST).

Punters are in for a big day of Brisbane racing that includes a trio of Group status races beginning with the Group 3 Rough Habit Plate (2200m) at 2:15pm (AEST).

Race 6 on the Stradbroke Handicap Day program, this race for the three-year-old stayers features all 15 original final acceptors led in betting by the improving Chris Anderson-trained Ballistic Boy ($2.60 @ Ladbrokes.com.au).

Next-up the season’s best two-year-old middle-distance types do battle in the Group 1 J.J. Atkins (1400m) running over a reduced distance this season due to COVID-19.

The 2020 J.J. Atkins field remains at capacity with all 18 original final acceptors in the mix including easing $4 favourite Rothfire jumping from barrier 13.

The meeting’s marquee race and the premier Queensland racing event then takes centre stage at 3:35pm (AEST) with the running of the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap (1400m).

The 2020 Stradbroke Handicap may only be worth $350,000, but the capacity 18-starter field is top-notch and includes the likes of last weekend’s Fred Best Classic winning colt Dawn Passage ($5.50) with the outside alley to overcome and the defending champion Trekking ($8) drawn only one on the favourite’s inside.
